But during this time, the aircraft fleet grew from 3 to 22 aircraft, and the number of destinations from 6 to 200. The company is among the top 10 Russian airlines in terms of passenger turnover. The aircraft fleet consists of modern and comfortable aircraft that meet all safety requirements. How does check-in for a flight take place?

The most convenient way to check in for a Nord Wind flight is online check-in. It is performed on any device from 24 to 1 hour before flight departure.

To register online, you must adhere to several conditions:
availability of an electronic ticket;
The departure airport is located in Russia, the CIS and Antalya;
no special transportation conditions are required;
you do not order additional services that need to be issued directly at the airport;

What is the price?

Registration for a Nord Wind flight is paid, or rather not the registration itself, but the choice of a seat on the plane. There is no free seat selection on flights of this airline since November 2017. Even when checking in at the airport.

The cost of choosing a seat is influenced by such parameters as class of service, type of seat placement on board and the flight zone (distance).

To complete online registration you need to have the following information:
1. The passenger's last name must match that indicated on the electronic ticket.
2. The electronic ticket number must be entered without spaces and contain 13 digits.
3. Flight departure date - you can enter it in the appropriate format yourself or using the built-in calendar.
4. Departure flight number, entered without airline code. Four-digit for an international charter flight and three-digit for regular flights within the Russian Federation and the CIS.

It is also possible to register other passengers up to 9 people online. After filling out all the necessary data, selecting a location, and ordering additional services, the registration process is completed. After this, you need to print your boarding pass or, if this is not possible, do this by contacting the check-in counter at the airport.

Mandatory documents that will need to be presented at the departure airport: passport and boarding pass on paper.

Registration for a company charter flight follows a similar procedure, but it begins from the moment the tour operator provides the passenger lists for this flight.

General information

Online registration conditions

The carrier’s website contains a short list of conditions for checking in for a flight via the Internet: there are less than 24 hours and more than 1 hour left before departure, you are flying without animals or excess baggage, you do not need an escort at the airport (for example, for people with disabilities), there are no prohibited items in your luggage.

Free baggage allowance

When checking in online on the Nord Wind website, you will be asked to: choose a seat in the cabin (conditionally free), purchase an additional piece of luggage and select a dish from the presented menu for the duration of the flight. The standard weight of luggage, which is included in the air ticket price, is 20+5 (20 - main luggage, one piece; 5 - hand luggage).

Paid luggage

Excess baggage is baggage whose dimensions and weight do not meet the carrier’s requirements (see link below).

When you check in online on the Nord Winda website, you will be offered an additional service to purchase/pay for one more piece of luggage (1+). It costs from 1,450 rubles to 3,500 rubles, which depends on the departure airport and flight route. We recommend using this service, as baggage handling fees at the airport can be significantly higher, and it can take up to half an hour.

Animals in the salon

It is assumed that animals can be carried on Nord Wind airline flights. However, you must obtain prior permission to do this before opening online (web) registration. To do this, write a letter to the agent company where you purchased your air tickets or travel package. The collection and legitimacy of the collected documents for veterinary control remains with you.

Electronic boarding pass

After checking in online, print the boarding pass that you will receive from the airline. It is not the document you need to fly, but it will help you quickly find your flight at the airport. Use it as a cheat sheet. You will receive a valid boarding pass at the airport at the Nord Wind check-in counter.

So, we urgently needed to get from Moscow to St. Petersburg. I didn’t find a suitable ticket on the website of our railways, but on scyscanner I accidentally found a cheap plane ticket for 3,200 rubles. The ticket was sold by OneTwoTrip. The first thing that surprised me was that there were a lot of questions about risks and warnings that had to be either taken on or paid extra. For example, a refund for a canceled flight cost 2000. As a result, I did not take out any insurance and just paid for the ticket. The OneTwoTrip booking system does not allow you to enter Russian letters when booking domestic flights, so after purchasing tickets a question arose about my reservation. I wanted to make sure that everything was in order with the ticket and went to the official website of NordWind Airlines to find out the help desk phone number. As a result, I was never able to get through to NordWind Airlines. Then I sent an email to the address indicated on the website (I’ll get ahead of myself - within two weeks I still didn’t receive a response). In the end, I gave up and contacted the help desk of the OneTwoTrip reservation system and was able to quickly get answers to my questions only from them, since NordWind Airlines does not respond at all, you can sit and listen to the dialing melody for an hour.

Answers to the question about Latin letters: Latin letters are acceptable when booking a ticket for a domestic flight if the booking system does not allow you to enter Cyrillic. Also read below about the nuances of baggage transportation - what is written on the ticket does not always correspond to reality.

Then I went back to the official website of NordWind Airlines and decided to check in online for the flight and get a boarding pass. After some simple manipulations, I saw that my flight number and airline had changed. According to my boarding pass, I had already flown with Pegas Fly, but nevertheless I had some kind of boarding pass.

On the day of departure, I arrived at Sheremetyevo airport in 4 hours. At the airport, I learned that three NordWind Airlines flights had been delayed for more than four hours. Passengers are indignant, and there is no one to turn to, since there are no NordWind Airlines representatives at the airport. Again, all passengers say that they can’t get through to the information desk - in the end, everyone is on their nerves and there is no information. Check-in for my flight began exactly on schedule, but the flight itself was delayed by 30 minutes, which, as I understand it, is not a delay at all for this airline.

The plane was in good condition, as was the service - there were no complaints. I have attached a photo of the plane.


Conclusion: NordWind Airlines is a pure lottery. Either you buy a cheap ticket and fly normally, as in my case, or the flight is canceled and you are left at the airport without money. But the most common case is a flight delay, so I highly recommend not buying a ticket if you have flights on other types of transport, there is a very high probability of being late for all subsequent flights.

P.s. The airline’s website says that you can take 1 piece of hand luggage up to 10 kg and one piece of luggage up to 20 kg. But at the check-in desk, for some reason, the system says that the maximum weight you can check in as luggage for free is 10 kg. When asked why this is so, at the check-in desk they say we don’t know, since we are not airline employees. Either contact the airline or pay an additional 2,000 rubles for luggage. As you already understood, the first option won’t work, since it’s not possible to get through by phone (you can try to get through by phone before purchasing out of curiosity), that is, the only option left is to pay extra money or throw away the excess weight from your luggage.

Conditions for online registration

  • You are traveling on Nordwind Airlines' own flights (N4)
  • No more than 24 hours and no less than 1 * hour before flight departure. * For flights departing from foreign airports in the Russian Federation - 4 hours (except for Antalya, Yerevan, Cam Ranh, Cancun)
  • You are flying without animals, weapons or luggage in the passenger seat
  • You don't need special services. For example: accompanying people with disabilities, accompanying a child without parents, and others
  • There are no prohibited items or substances in your checked or carry-on luggage

How to register online?

    Search for passengers

    In the form, please indicate the passenger's last name and ticket number. After that, click on the “Search” button. If several people are flying, add fellow travelers using the “Add Passenger” button. After filling in all the data, click “Proceed to online registration”.

  • Step 2

    check-in

    At the check-in stage, you can choose a seat in the aircraft cabin and order additional services. After selecting the required services, click on the “Register” button.

  • Step 3

    Payment for additional services

    Pay for additional services selected at the previous stage. When paying, please provide a current phone number and email address. This is necessary to send you a payment receipt.

  • Step 4

    Receiving your boarding pass

    Receive and print your boarding pass. You will need it to go through security and when boarding the plane. If it is not possible to print your boarding pass, do so at the airport check-in counter.

Transfer passengers

When traveling on transfer flights, you must remember that check-in for a flight for each individual section opens 24 hours in advance and ends 1 hour before the departure of the flight in this direction.

If, when completing online check-in, there are more than 24 hours left before the departure time of the second flight, check-in will only be available for the first leg of the route.

For your convenience you can:

  • Use the online check-in service in stages for each flight (in accordance with the start and end period of online check-in for a given flight)
  • Use the online check-in service at the same time for all flights in the route (during the period coinciding with the period of online check-in for both flights in the route)

Mobile boarding pass

On flights departing from:
– Sheremetyevo Airport (Moscow), domestic and international destinations;
– Pashkovsky Airport (Krasnodar), domestic routes;

When passing through pre-flight inspection, at passport control, at the boarding gate and on board the aircraft, it is enough to present your boarding pass on the screen of your portable device.

Additional Information

  • On flights operated under a code-share agreement with Pegas Fly, online check-in is not available.
  • Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger is required to present all baggage, hand luggage and personal items to the check-in counter for weighing and check-in.
  • Online check-in for fares: “Light Economy”, “Optimum Economy”, as well as for passengers of charter flights, is available upon ordering the “Seat selection” service. If you do not need the online check-in service, you can use the standard check-in procedure at departure airports.

  • Even when completing online check-in, remember the time required to complete all mandatory pre-flight procedures (security control, and for international transport, customs formalities). It is recommended to arrive at the airport early!

  • For passengers with Hahn Air (H1) tickets, online check-in is not available.
