How to get to Altai by car. Traveling by car in Altai

I am leaving for you a detailed route around Altai by car, which was developed in fact.

Day 1 of the Altai route: departure from Tyumen to Novosibirsk

Along the way we cross the Tyumen region: Yalutorovsk, Zavodoukovsk, Omutinsky district, Ishimsky district, Abatskoye; Omsk region: Tyukalinsk, Kalinovka, Omsk, Novosibirsk region. We covered a distance of 1278 km and stopped for the night in Novosibirsk. The main thing is to survive the road to Omsk (especially Abatskoe, Ishim), after Omsk the road is excellent.

Day 2-3 of the Altai route: departure from Novosibirsk to the territory of Altai

Stop for 2 nights near the village of Maima. Movement along the Chuysky tract. Along the way we cross the Novosibirsk region (Berdsk, Iskitim, Cherepanovo), the Altai Territory (Talmenka, Biysk, Verkh-Katunskoye, Srostki, Berezovka, Bystryanka).

The village of Srostki is known to many as the birthplace of the writer Vasily Shukshin; you can stop and see the writer’s house-museum, as well as the Church of the Great Martyr Catherine. Be sure to try the delicious pies at the market, which is located at the exit of the village.

We entered the territory of the Altai Republic. The weather did not allow us to set up tents, so we rented a summer house at the Gelion camp site (Maiminsky district). We made a stop for 2 nights, because there are a lot of interesting things nearby, namely, Mount Devil’s Finger, the island of Patmos, the Chemal hydroelectric power station, Lake Aya, the bridge over the Katun at the Turquoise Katun base, the Taldinsky caves, the Manzherok GC and Lake Manzherok. We saw everything except the Taldin caves; they did not interest us very much.

Day 4 of the Altai route: climb to the Seminsky Pass

On the way to the pass we cross the village. Limestone, village Barangol, village Ust-Sema, village Kamlak, s. Cherga, s. Barlak, s. Myyuta, s. Shebalino, s. Kumalyr, s. Stomping.

After the pass we cross the village. Tuekta, s. Karakol, village Kurota, s. Shashikman, s. Ongudai. We stayed overnight in the Ongudai district in a picturesque place, at the “AiL” tour base (Ongudai district)

Day 5 of the Altai route: ascent to the Chike-Taman pass, Ilgumensky rapids, confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers, the first snowy peaks of the Altai Mountains

We headed through the Chike Taman pass, crossing the village along the way. Ulita, s. Khabarovka. The ascent to the Chike-Taman pass is 4 km.

Having descended from the pass to 680 km of the Chuysky tract, we turned left following the “cordon” sign (through it you can go down to the Ilgumensky threshold). We walked through the gate and went down to the Ilgumen rapids, walked along the rocky shore, and watched the fishermen and rafts with the children. After the cordon we moved on to see the confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers (712 km of the Chuya tract), and the Altai petroglyphs (723 km of the Chuya tract). The confluence of rivers is not always so obvious; apparently, the color of the water largely depends on the weather.

Afterwards we passed Aktash, and further - moving towards Kurai, we saw the first snowy peaks of the Altai Mountains, and rode along the Kurai steppe. It was possible to drive all the way along the Chuysky tract (to Tashanta), but we decided to turn around. Now I really regret this, because it is in this remaining hundred kilometers to the border with Mongolia that a stunning view of the North Chuisky ridge opens up.

Having turned around, we reached the village of Ulagan, settled on the territory of the “Nomad” eco-tourist base, where we finally pitched our tents.

Day 6 of the Altai route: Ulagansky pass, Katu-Yaryk pass

Accommodation in the village of Ulagan was not planned by chance; from here it is not far from the road leading to the Katu-Yaryk pass. In order to get to the passes, you need to turn off the Chuysky tract in the village of Aktash following the sign for Ulagan. Rising to the Katu-Yaryk pass, we cross the Ulagansky pass - a sacred place where rituals of worship of Altai are held, ritual ribbons are tied.

The climb to the Katu-Yaryk pass is not for the faint of heart; it takes about 4 hours. To return from the pass you need to go the same way as you came, or you can go down from the pass and find yourself immediately on the southern shore of Lake Teletskoye, but not all cars are capable of this. Be extremely careful and study all the information about descending from the pass by car!

Having descended from the pass, we reached the village of Bely Bom (742 km of the Chuisky tract), which we noticed on the way to the Kurai steppe. A very picturesque place, we pitched tents on the river bank, on the territory of the Caravan Park base.

Day 7 of the Altai route: return to the Chemal region

From the village of Bely Bom we returned to the village of Chemal and settled at the “Pilot” camp site (7 km from Chemal). The purpose of such a route in Altai is to see nearby waterfalls the next day.

Day 8 of the Altai route: Chech-Kysh and Beltyresk waterfalls

The Chech-Kysh waterfall is artificial, but no less beautiful than natural waterfalls. It is located about 3 km before reaching the village of Elanda. After visiting the Chech-Kysh waterfall, we headed towards the village of Kuyus to the Beltyresk waterfall. The road to it took about 1.5 hours one way. The road is bad (and who wrote on the Internet that it was excellent?). Almost at the entrance to the waterfall, I had to transfer to a local in the field, since it is impossible to get to the waterfall with a regular car, or walk for about 20-30 minutes.

After examining the waterfall, we moved to Lake Teletskoye. We stopped for the night at the Yurtok camp site (within 2 km of Lake Teletskoye, the village of Artybash). We arrived late at night, so we didn’t moor at Teletskoye right away, since we planned to camp on the lake for 4-5 days and wanted to choose a normal place for tents in the morning.

Day 9 of the Altai route: Lake Teletskoye, northern shore

In the morning we drove to the northern shore of Lake Teletskoye, examined in detail all the shores and bases with tent camps and settled in a tent camp on the territory of the Golden Lake base. The day was spent walking along the northern coast.

Day 10 of the Altai route: climbing Mount Telan-Tuu

Ascent to Mount Telan-Tuu, from which you can see the northern shore of Lake Teletskoye, the villages of Artybash and Yogach. Half a day of serene relaxation by the pool at the base, relax)

Day 11 of the Altai route: swim to the southern shore of Lake Teletskoye

We went on an excursion to the southern shore of Lake Teletskoye, including a tour of the waterfalls flowing into the lake. Definitely worth it!

Day 12 of the Altai route: Third River

We walked to the Third River, which is located not far from our base, where we were located. Very beautiful nature. In the evening we had a gala dinner to say goodbye to Altai.

Day 13-14: way home!

Friends, ask questions regarding the route through the Altai Mountains, we will be happy to help!

In recent years, road travel to Altai has been experiencing a renaissance. The local tourism industry does not stand still; guests are offered recreational tours with a variety of possibilities and conditions. We will tell you about all the intricacies of traveling in your own car.

RAMK in Altai

The nature of the Altai Mountains is fascinating. But roads are far from a gift. They will be a real test for your iron horse: holes, stones that have overflowed the banks of the river. Specialists of the Russian Auto Moto Club will help make your trip enjoyable. With our club card, any breakdown will become another pleasant adventure on the road.

Automobile route from Moscow to Gorny Altai

The most convenient route: Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kirov – Perm – Ekaterinburg – Tyumen – Omsk – Novosibirsk – Gorno-Altaisk. The road through almost a third of the territory of Russia is replete with attractions, but the goal of the trip is Altai, so we skip the details. It is better to drive along federal highways - they are actively being repaired, so you are more likely to encounter good coverage. Overall, the best part of the journey is the roads of Western Siberia. The most problematic roads are at the crossing from Nizhny Novgorod to Perm. After Novosibirsk, exit onto the federal highway Novosibirsk-Mongolia (Chuysky tract). You can drive along it throughout Altai in a southern direction.

Sights of Altai

The main attractions are amazing natural beauty: snow-white peaks, mountain rivers.

Gorny Altai is attractive to tourists with the beauty of its majestic mountains, rushing rivers and mirror lakes, mysterious natural monuments and historical and philosophical value on a global scale. After noisy and dusty megacities, Gorny Altai provides an opportunity to relax your soul and body. Often, after several days in Altai, you want to stay here forever or come back again and again. Each trip will give you the discovery of new secrets and beauties.

Benefits of traveling by car

Travelers by car value them for their sense of freedom. Your car makes the owner independent in his desires.

Speed. Traveling by car is faster than by bus or train. In addition, you can always stop unscheduled in an interesting place.

Possibility to choose a travel companion. If you need company, use the service to find who is traveling along the way. “Poisoned by people” - travel alone.

Reminder for road travelers

WHEN TO GO TO ALTAI

Every season has its own seasonal characteristics.

  • Winter here is cold, but because of the snow-white snow it is fabulously beautiful. Keep in mind that avalanches are common in the mountains. Therefore, when going to the mountains, avoid avalanche-prone areas.
  • Late spring and summer are warm, but meltwater raises river levels, so roads are flooded in some places. This is a period of increased tick activity.
  • The optimal time to travel is from August to September. There is less water and access is open even to the farthest points of tourist routes. And the least number of ticks.

ROADS OF ALTAI

Local roads are of very different quality. The Chuysky tract is perhaps the best road in Russia. And mountain climbs in some places are accessible only to specially trained “tanks.” However, owners of low-clearance cars also have places to ride.

There are many well-equipped and comfortable tourist centers (Chemal, Teletskoye). You can get here by hitchhiking, bus or on foot, so there are a lot of tourists. Buses don’t go to the most beautiful places, and it’s difficult to catch a ride. It is to these places that the off-road vehicle travelers go. Altai is a haven for off-road connoisseurs. They are the ones who will find themselves in the most picturesque places.

The road to the valley of the Chulyshman River is a narrow and dangerous steep slope, but even cars with little clearance can get here. But in some places on the road there are some very decent stones. Unpredictable weather creates additional difficulties. Heavy rains quickly give way to thick fogs. If the weather is clear, just have time to turn your head - mountains, lakes, landscapes, serpentines. In terms of silence, tranquility, and beauty, Gorny Altai surpasses any abroad.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU

Those who have visited Altai know: there can never be too many things. The weather in the mountains changes rapidly and unpredictably. Airlines will ask you to pay for carrying things in excess of hand luggage, and the trunk will fit everything you need with a spare.

  1. Tent and sleeping bags, travel mat. A tent will allow you to spend the night comfortably in nature. Additionally, it is better to take another blanket or a second sleeping bag. Even in July the nights can be very cold and additional insulation for an overnight stay will be useful. A rug under the sleeping bag will make the feather bed softer and warmer.
  2. Shoes and clothing. Possible sudden changes in temperature will help you survive with a sufficient supply of warm clothing. Get ready for any surprises, take with you:
    • rubberized windbreaker;
    • two tracksuits (warm and lighter);
    • T-shirts and tank tops made of breathable fabric;
    • shorts;
    • socks (light and woolen - for overnight stays);
    • swimsuit;
    • headdress (cap);
    • sneakers and an open pair of shoes with non-slip soles;
    • To organize hiking, take a small backpack with you.
  3. Personal hygiene products. In this matter, everything is purely individual. The minimum sufficient set will be: two towels, soap, shampoo, washcloth, brush with paste, toilet paper.
  4. Utensils for cooking and eating.
  5. Devices. It is optimal to take multifunctional equipment.
  6. Other accessories. The list of required things includes: a lantern, matches, an axe, and a rope.
  7. Means of protection. The local nature is rich in ticks. Therefore, before visiting, it is better to undergo a course of vaccinations, acquire special insurance in case of a tick bite, and stock up on bottles of repellent.
  8. First aid kit. With basic medications: painkillers, cold relievers, disinfectants.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

To travel abroad, it is mandatory to purchase insurance. There is no such requirement for domestic travel, but we are sure that travel insurance will come in handy. In what cases is insurance most often needed:

  • cold;
  • toothache;
  • poisoning;
  • insect or animal bite;
  • sunburn;
  • injuries and fractures;
  • and anything else.

ADVANTAGES OF PAID INSURANCE

Travel insurance covers medical expenses that go beyond compulsory medical insurance: the purchase of medicines, diagnostic procedures, evacuation of the traveler and, in case of a tragic outcome, the body. In addition, the policy insures non-medical risks: canceled trip, lost luggage, etc. Insurance is especially important for mountain tourism destinations.

HOW TO EAT TASTY: ALTAI CUISINE

If you are planning a trip to wild places, you will have to cook yourself over a fire. You can try local cuisine in stylized roadside cafes. The basis of the Altai mountain menu is meat dishes; fermented milk products are widely used. In general, the cuisine is similar to Kazakh.

Meats include beef, lamb and goat. Terpek (flatbread), boorsak (donuts), and kurta (cheese balls) are prepared from fermented milk. The most common drink is, of course, herbal tea.

GORNOALTAI CAFE

We will only highlight those that our club members have responded well to. In the village of Srostki, on the market square, there are excellent huge pasties with fragrant herbal tea - you can have a tasty snack.

Near the Golden Lake tourist center on Lake Teletskoye, be sure to visit the Altai Cuisine cafe. Decoration in the form of an Altai yurt: with a fireplace in the middle. The menu is not so varied, but very tasty at reasonable prices.

At the base of the Seminsky Pass on the Mongolian side in the hotel complex you will meet the Silk Road cafe. I especially liked the gorgeous pilaf and delicious manti.

Today we’ll talk about how to organize an unforgettable trip to the Altai Mountains by car through its spectacular places. The proposed route will start from Barnaul and end in Kurai. To Altai by car from Barnaul

The proposed example of traveling to Altai by car is provided with a starting point from the capital of the Altai Territory and towards Gorno-Altaisk. The route to Gorno-Altaisk is very good, so you can travel by car without much discomfort. This was probably made possible due to the fact that belong to the federal highway. At the entrance to Barnaul, 17 kilometers away, a modern four-lane road begins straight to the junction on the Chuysky tract. After it there is a two-lane road to Biysk, but along it there are rarely populated areas and cameras. At the beginning of the work week, the traffic here is not too intense, so you can get there without traffic jams or any special complications on the roads.

At the entrance to Biysk, open your navigator and see if there are traffic jams in the city. If not, then it is better to drive further through it, and if it shows difficult traffic, drive around. Road construction is underway outside the city, but the work does not interfere with traffic. Between Biysk and Gorno-Altaisk there are much more populated areas along the road. The road in Altai by car from Barnaul to Gorno-Altaisk takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on the number of expected stops.

We are going to Altai by car: the road from Gorno-Altaisk

After Gorno-Atlaysk, the next point of travel to Altai by car is , located 150 kilometers from the city. In general, the journey here will take approximately 2 hours. When setting off on your journey, make sure you have enough fuel back and forth, since the best Lukoil gas station in terms of prices and service is located just outside Gorno-Altaisk. The Gazpromneft gas station in Mayma is also popular, with its low prices, so if possible, refuel there if possible. If you see that there may not be enough fuel, then it is best to fill up with gasoline or diesel at Sibneft in Verkh-Biysk - reviews about it are also positive among drivers.

When driving towards Lake Teletskoye, be prepared to end up in mountains shrouded in fog.

On the way to the Altai Mountains by car, you will encounter many beautiful landscapes, but be careful, since the route is narrow and the quality of the road itself, frankly speaking, leaves much to be desired. Moreover, it has frequent turns, and literally 10 kilometers before Verkh-Baisky, a small serpentine road begins, covered with rubble.

From this point the road will run along the Biya River - all the way to Artybash. You can stop for a rest on its shore, especially since there are entrances in many places. Just remember that the water there is mostly cool and the current is strong. On the way to Artybash, if possible, visit the river bank near the village of Kebezen, where there is beautiful nature and atmosphere.

After you enter Artybash, don’t be upset if you don’t see Teletskoye Lake right away, because it’s hard to see directly from the village itself. Ask the locals on which side the “Tretya Rechka” waterfall is located - you don’t have to worry about the pronunciation of this name, since it is called differently: “on the third river”, and “third river”. Don't be surprised if you hear new variations in pronunciation.

Don’t forget that a good tourist traveling to Altai by car is a prepared tourist, so in case you don’t meet passers-by, you can get there by heading straight along the road through the whole of Artybash. It ends near a small wooden bridge. You definitely can't get through there, so park your car. There is no designated parking here, so park it right on the side of the road.

Further along the way through the Altai Mountains by car you come across a small stream and you need to go up its current. There is only one path, and it will be difficult to get lost. You will have to walk for about 15 minutes, and then you will come to the final obstacle, where there will be a very narrow bridge - you need to cross it as carefully as possible. When traveling to the Altai Mountains, be sure to take comfortable shoes; it is important that they are not slippery.

You will have an unforgettable view of the waterfall. Although it is not full-flowing, this makes it more elegant. The water bubbling over the rocks gives the feeling of a light breeze. Don’t forget to take colorful photos as a souvenir - the surrounding riot of colors will make them unique.

You can have lunch in this area at the Evsich cafe. You will immediately see it about 400 meters at the entrance to the village. The average bill for an order is 250-300 rubles, and with this money you can eat a hearty meal of the dishes offered from home cooking. The choice is quite varied, you definitely won’t leave hungry.

Among the budget places in this region is the Sand Quarry outside the village of Yogach, located right at the foot of Mount Keitek. Not far from this quarry there is a deposit of blue clay, distinguished by its medicinal properties. Include a boat trip in your vacation program - local guides will organize everything, but you will need to pay about 1,300 rubles. But this is the only way you can see Lake Teletskoye from the other side and appreciate the entire panorama of the forest around.

Gorny Altai by car: going to Kurai

If you go to Altai by car to Kurai from Gorno-Altaisk, immediately take into account that you will need to spend about 10 hours to cover 350 km of the road. And again, the primary issue is with refueling - when leaving Maima, you can fill up a full tank at Gazprom, it is better to do it there, since beyond the Seminsky Pass gasoline will be more expensive - from 41 rubles per liter.

Many are frightened by the unknown of overcoming the Seminsky Pass when traveling to Altai by car, because it is considered one of the highest in this area.

Don’t be afraid of difficulties, you can drive through it without any special technical problems (unless, of course, you went on a trip to Altai by car using old Kamaz and Gazelles). At the pass there is a tourist base "Dynamo" and a training center "Seminsky Pass". If you are tired on the road, then this is a good place not only to have lunch, but also to spend the night. As for the pricing policy, the base of the same name is a more budget option than Dynamo. If you want to book rooms, it is possible to do this remotely online through the official website.

If you are here in winter, be sure to visit the ski slope in Altai by car, which is fully equipped here for this period. You can also climb to the top of Mount Tiyakhta, having previously taken care of the necessary equipment.

Travel to Gorny Altai: Chike-Taman

The next pass that you encounter on the way to the Altai Mountains by car is Chike-Taman, but there is no point in stopping there. It is worth warning that overcoming it will be a little more difficult, since the road resembles a tangled serpentine, cutting through the rocks in several places. Along the way through the pass you will come across several observation platforms where you can take some picturesque shots as a souvenir. 15-20 km after it the real Altai Mountains begin. The contrast will be immediately noticeable in the differences between nature, high and beautiful mountains.

In the area of the village of Kupchegeni, you will be able to see the Katun River again for a long time, appearing from behind the mountains.

In this area it is even cleaner and more transparent, but at the same time more seething. When approaching this place, be as careful as possible on the road in the Altai Mountains by car, since there is a cliff hanging on the right, and a cliff into the deep Katun on the left. It is better to stop at the next pass at the beginning of the village of Maly Yaloman. At this point the river literally makes a 180 degree turn and a very beautiful view opens up. There you can drive up to the bank of the Katun - there are no special obstacles for this.

Further along the route of traveling to Altai by car is the village of Inya, where there are several beautiful places - mainly bridges over the local river. The first bridge is located directly along the Chuysky tract. And the second Ininsky or, as it is also called, Tsaplinsky Bridge, is located a little to the right. If you drive a little further from this place, you can see the confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers. This phenomenon is unique in that each of them has its own specific color. If Katun is turquoise, then Chuya is gray. Of course, such a rare natural phenomenon could not go without due attention - an observation deck from the cliff was built especially for tourists. You've probably seen photographs of these places, without even suspecting that they were taken there - photographers love this landscape and often come here for new shots.

A rest stop in Altai by car is also worth making in Kalbak-Tash. Here you can walk along the rocks with petroglyphs, but this is only allowed if accompanied by a guide for 150 rubles per person. Thus, the locals protect the cultural monument from vandals and unscrupulous tourists.

The journey to Altai by car continues through Bely Bomom and Akbom, where you will probably notice an interesting monument to the Chui drivers. Nearby is the Shirlak waterfall, popularly called “Maiden’s Tears”. Its height is small - the stream drops from only 20 meters. If you wish, you can go to it, but be prepared to climb a steep hill yourself.

45 km before Kurai there is the village of Aktash. There is also the opportunity to have lunch at the Nika canteen, located behind the local gas station. You won't be able to eat any gourmet dishes, but home-cooked food is very tasty. Moreover, the prices surprise you with their affordable prices - spend 150-200 rubles for lunch. Moreover, the staff does not mind if visitors bring their own food with them, because they understand that people often come from a long road in Altai by car.

Be sure to visit the local attraction of the Altai Mountains by car - the geyser lake.

Not far from it, by the way, there is a small tourist base where three small houses are rented out to vacationers. In principle, it is not a problem to find a place to stay or stay overnight, and as for prices, the payment per day is approximately 500 rubles per person. You don’t have to count on special conditions, and if you want to save money in any case, then arrange accommodation with local residents.

There is a purely symbolic fee for entering the lake in the amount of 20-30 rubles. The owners of neighboring tourist centers took care to make a bridge to the lake, because getting to it is very difficult, since the path runs through a swamp. But you can see an amazing natural phenomenon - an eruption of gases that throw clay out. After each wave of eruptions of the geyser lake, amazing drawings emerge at the bottom - you can see different figures in them, but which ones exactly depend on your imagination. Keep in mind that it is better to visit the geyser in the morning - this way you are more likely to catch this process in a more expressive and intense manifestation.

Climb the mountains in these places when traveling to Altai by car, before reaching Kurai - the nature here is simply charming. This will be a pleasant bonus for the continuation of the road through the Severochuisky ridge. Make the next pass in the Kurai steppe, located behind the village of the same name. A pleasant combination of the North Chuya ridge and the expanses of the steppe itself opens to the eye. This place is not crowded, so don't forget your navigator or map so you don't get lost.

The described tourist route to the Altai Mountains by car is a good option based on the impressions received and the money spent on it. The approximate costs of such a trip are almost minimal. Fuel will cost approximately 4000-3000 rubles, depending on the brand of the car. For food at roadside cafes, pay approximately 200-300 rubles per person. The only thing that can significantly influence the final cost is accommodation, since the amount depends on the number of days you plan to spend on this route. The most economical tourists can arrange overnight stays in tents.

So, if you want to get away from the bustle of the city and be surrounded by nature, traveling to Altai by car is a very good and budget option. Along the proposed route there are a large number of places and natural attractions that can win your heart.

The main directions pass through the Chuysky tract. A well-paved road, which according to National Geographic is one of the ten most beautiful roads in the world. We drove off and ended up on gravel. The car goes, but not everywhere. In the Ulagansky and Ust-Koksinsky districts there is a landmark on every second square meter, and on every third you can get a punctured tire. Take plenty of spare tires and keep in mind that there is no tire service there.

Benefits of traveling by car

The main advantage of traveling by car is freedom. You are not addicted. We wanted to see the Roerich Museum, but we remembered that we had forgotten our things at the camp site. They returned and picked it up without any problems.

Number of things and luggage. In Altai there is a rule - “there are never enough things.” The weather in the mountains changes quickly and unpredictably. If you are flying from afar, keep in mind that some airlines do not include luggage in the ticket price. If you want, buy separately. You don't want to fit everything into a 5 kg hand luggage. In the car you will put day cream, night cream, and around the eyes. Yes, even Boris the cat can be adopted without any problems.

Save time. Traveling by car is faster than traveling by train or bus. If you are traveling from neighboring regions, the average savings is from 2 to 4 hours. There is no need to wait for Vitalina to take a selfie with Belukha in the background; we sat down and moved on.

Choosing a travel companion. If you want, eat alone. I got bored, chose a travel companion, turned on Radio Siberia and hit the road.

But we can’t say for sure about the cost. It depends on what you compare it to.

If the number of passengers is equal to the seats, it will be cheaper than by plane. But will an all-inclusive tour be cheaper and will there be any unforeseen expenses? Is not a fact.

What to pay attention to when traveling around Altai by car?

Maps and navigation. It is better to buy a map and mark the route in advance. The navigators work well, except for the “directions”. If the attraction is near the road, then no problem. But sometimes you need to walk more than one kilometer. Take it into account.

Petrol. Altai does not differ from other regions in the best quality of gasoline. In addition, higher in the mountains, gasoline is worse. The price increases and depends on the difficulty of transportation. There are gas filling stations in regional centers (Gorno-Altaisk, Kosh-Agach, Shebalino, Ongudai).

Tire fitting and repair. The main advice is don’t break. Get your car diagnosed before traveling. Service stations are rare, and you will have to wait for a spare part for as long as you have planned for the entire trip. In the mountains it is sometimes difficult to find a tire for a bicycle, let alone brand new European ones. When traveling by car, a spare tire, a cable, a jack and a tire are our everything.

  • You can eat in a cafe along the way. But they will not be found everywhere. So in this case, you need to take equipment for preparing food yourself.
  • Folding chairs and table.
  • If there is enough space in the transport, it would not hurt to put a barbecue grill or barbecue.
  • To capture a trip for the ages, you'll need a digital camera. Mountain rivers, waterfalls, lakes, healing springs, majestic mountains, caves, forests... There will be plenty of worthy objects for photos.
  • Well, in order not to be considered uncultured and not litter fabulously beautiful places, take bags for garbage collection. Far from civilization, you also need to behave in a civilized manner. Otherwise, some groups of vacationers are left with just mountains of garbage.
  • And, of course, consider finances. You will need money not only for food and lodging, but also for visiting attractions, as well as souvenirs.

To make travel a joy, tourists need rest and healthy sleep. To do this you can:

  • Book places at the camp site.
  • Rent a house in the village.
  • Take advantage of the calving stations, of which there are many along the way.
  • Or just sleep in the car. Many vehicles have enough space for this.

Or you can combine all these options.
