How can you compare these two completely opposite countries? I don't know! But at the request of one of our readers, we will still try to conduct some analysis and find out where the vacation will be brighter and bring more pleasure. Please note that this is solely our opinion and some points in the eyes of readers may be disputed.

So, let's begin!

Kitchen

*Indian food rightfully bears the title of one of the most popular cuisines in the world. I think that anyone will find their favorite dishes.

Cheese-Nan (flatbread with cheese) is worth everything, it will not leave your stomach indifferent.

These flatbreads are a hit with Russian tourists.

National dish Tali. It consists of rice and many different sauces, sometimes even yogurt, including potatoes and a large flatbread to boot.

Anyone who has not been to India yet, but is planning to, is advised to try this dish.

Chicken Masala is suitable for frequent consumption by chicken lovers.

One could go on and on about this never-ending list of delicious Indian cuisine. The main distinguishing feature of the dishes is the presence of spices, especially curry. Not a single dish would be complete without them. Connoisseurs of hot chili sauce will be able to enjoy it to their heart's content.

For vegetarians, Indian cuisine is heaven. Fresh fruits, vegetables, potatoes, rice, salads and endless choice.

For dessert, ice cream with strawberries and banana

Passion fruit is not for everyone, looks like someone's brain

During our not so long stay in India, dishes appeared that we look for in every country. For example, I came across Indian cafes, but they absolutely don’t know how to cook Indian food.

The Vietnamese have not learned the art of cooking Indian food

Go to India! You will be 100% satisfied with your food.

*Sri Lankan cuisine is a copy of Indian cuisine. The presence of spices, chicken curry and roti also prevails. This is where the list ends. We really didn't see any Sri Lankan cuisine. But there is no problem with rice. Cheap and different. .

Perhaps seafood dishes are prepared uniquely, we don’t know, since we don’t eat fish, but as for the rest, no changes. There are no favorite dishes. Most products are bland and not at all spicy. In Sri Lanka you don't have to say "no spice". There are few vegetables. Cucumbers are expensive and tomatoes are semi-green.

The fruit selection is not bad, bananas are tasty, pineapples are expensive, and in November we came across mangoes that were not ripe.

There are many types of bananas, delicious - banana heaven

Bottom line: For those who have not been to India, the food in Sri Lanka will seem the most delicious. For those who have been to India, Sri Lankan cuisine will be exactly as I described it.

Animal world

*Animals in India- These are mainly dogs and cows. They live on beaches, near necks, and roam the streets.

The dog humbly waits for his dinner

Indian dog with bindi

Everyone can swim!

There are also cats along the way, but they are not allowed to get close to them.

Man, what do you want from me?)))

Abundance of cows on the roads. This is the most basic thing anyone has seen after visiting.

But cows are not only on the roads, the same situation

Cute pigs are also not uncommon.

Very touching photo

Some people meet snakes on their way or those thrown out on the sand from the ocean, some monkeys on waterfalls, some others. We didn’t get to see many of them.

*Animals in Sri Lanka a lot of. In addition to the same stray dogs, there are many more, the locals do not like them and often drive them away.

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

You can't stop admiring Sri Lanka...

green-eyed taxi

We met two types of monkeys.

First view. Large individuals similar to humans

Type two. No comments.

Large monitor lizards, chipmunks, exotic birds and lovely minks or mongooses.

The fauna here is all right and even more so.

Indian Ocean

*In India, the Indian Ocean is not always and not always clean. We were on the beaches of Anjuna.

The water is approximately the same. There is no transparency. The color is cloudy and somewhat grayish.

The waves are not small, but this does not interfere with swimming.

*On the beaches of Sri Lanka the situation is much better. The water is very beautiful and the color is sometimes turquoise, especially in.

Of course, there are days when the stinking river flows into the zone of floating people and there is a lot of garbage, but this is more a rarity than a given.

The favorite place of monitor lizards is stinking rivers

The waves can be very strong, the only exception being the beach and some places in Unawatuna.

Beach

That very special place on the Hikkaduwa beach where there are big waves and you can surf

At the end of Unawatuna beach, large waves crash onto the reef

Beach

* Sand on Goa beaches great. Small and hot.

For example, it’s long, there’s enough room for everyone.

The atmosphere is groovy. Entry into the water is convenient and the main thing that attracts is that there are no stones.

You can walk along the bottom barefoot and not worry about your feet.

* Beach area of Sri Lanka Somewhere more, somewhere less, it’s different. The sand feels pleasant to the touch, but entering the water is terrible. There are no stones in Mirissa, sometimes in Hikaduwa, but usually there are a few.

But in Unawatuna they are visible and invisible. Sharp and large, they hit your legs when entering the sea.

Vast areas of the beach in Unawatuna now look exactly like this, so it’s better to go swimming where there are no waves, it’s cleaner there, although there are also pebbles

At the bottom there are blocks of stones and sharp small fragments.

Cloth

*Indian clothes Not everyone will like it, but many people prefer this style. This is especially true for independent travelers or tourists who have fallen in love with this country.

Colorful, unusual, embroidered with beads and stones. Aladdin pants, saris, shoulder bags in Rastafarian style, interesting sundresses and flowing dresses. The assortment is huge. There is always something to buy.

*Lankan clothing…. Does she exist? Did not see…. Stalls with tasteless rags called dresses, a few panties in the Indian version and that’s it.

Purity

*India is far from being a clean or at least not very dirty country.

For an unprepared person, this will seem scary

In some places there is garbage on the streets, there are no garbage dumps, because of this there are a lot of cockroaches and rats. All this is rotting and no one is cleaning it up.

* Sri Lanka is cleaner. I won’t say that there are absolutely drastic differences, but they are noticeable. Several urns catch your eye. Roads without garbage.

Sri Lankans wrap the accumulated garbage from their homes in a bag and place it in specially designated places, where they are picked up by scavengers early in the morning.

The streets look decent too

Of course, in Sri Lanka there are such places of pollution that you can easily imagine that you are now in India) And yet cleanliness and the absence of large accumulations of dirt are not typical of Sri Lanka.

Local population

* We cannot discuss Hindus objectively, because they spent much less time in India, but their attitude towards tourists is hundreds of times more positive than. Even their smiles and beaming faces showed so much positivity that unpleasant moments passed us by.

Of course, on the beaches and streets, vacationers are offered to buy junk and bracelets. There are a lot of children and for some reason they rarely cry.

No one grabs your hand and looks at you with challenge. Hindus are harmonious and hospitable.

We felt safe in Goa, although if you come to Delhi and Mumbai, I think the situation will be different.

* There are many rumors about Sri Lankans, which later turn out to be not rumors, but pure truth. We had an idea to write a separate post about the population, but I don’t even want to think about them. above the roof.

Firstly, the male sex likes to drink, they buy bottles of rum and drag themselves to the beach already under the influence of alcohol. Secondly, while drinking, young people smoke weed, which is supposedly illegal in this country, but everyone smokes it. Thirdly, male aggression is in the air, coming from the majority who work with tourists.

Anyone who reads this post should not judge harshly. Everyone has their own views on which country is better, India (Goa) or Sri Lanka, as well as a personalized experience.

Believe me, you will not be disappointed at all if you finally decide and go on vacation to wonderful Sri Lanka. Firstly, it is the stunning beauty of untouched tropical forests, secondly, magnificent sandy beaches, and thirdly, ancient Buddhist shrines that have been amazingly preserved to this day.

Here you can go on an exciting safari to any of the tropical reserves, travel along the mountain slopes to any waterfall, of which there are simply an incredible number, laze on the beach surrounded by exotic plants, taste delicious Ceylon tea, or go explore the most ancient cultural monuments of the country.

All tourists who have visited Sri Lanka then remember for a long time and with great pleasure the incredible friendliness and responsiveness of the local residents. The people here are incredibly hospitable and are ready to invite anyone they meet into their home and welcome them as a dear guest. At first, all visitors are surprised by the fact that Sri Lankans constantly walk around with a smile on their faces, but then after leaving this wonderful country they remember this for a long time.

Sri Lanka has an incredible number of historical sites, and the world organization UNESCO has included many of them in its list of protected sites. Therefore, here you must definitely visit at least some part from this list - the Golden Cave Temple in Dambulla, the ancient capital of the island, the sacred city of Anuradhapura, the Lion Fortress on Mount Sigiriya, the last royal capital of the city of Kandy, the second ancient capital of the island, the city of Polonnaruwa, the ancient city of Galle with its beautiful fortress and, of course, the place where thousands of pilgrims of different religions gather from all over the world - Adam's Peak.

In addition to archaeological sites in Sri Lanka, there are also two natural reserves recognized as world heritage - the Sinharaja tropical rainforest with an incredible amount of diverse plants and rare animals (recognized as one of the 34 most unique places on our planet), as well as the “Highlands of Sri Lanka” with its stunningly beautiful the Knuckles Conservation Forest and the famous Horton Plains.

All this virgin nature is comfortably located at an altitude of 2500 meters from sea level and amazes all travelers visiting it with its tropical forests, cold streams, misty meadows and silvery mountain peaks. Amazing animals and rare plants are also found in large numbers in this reserve.

In total, there are 52 nature reserves and 12 national parks in this country, and the country takes great care in protecting animals and rare plants. There are animal species here that are found nowhere else on the planet, such as mouse deer, sloth bears, barking deer, wild cats - civet cats and sambar deer. Yala National Park is home to the world's largest population of leopards, and Udawalawe Park is home to the largest population of elephants on the planet.

Near the coast of Mirissa, tourists can freely see sperm whales, dolphins and killer whales. And Sri Lanka can rightfully be proud of the fact that it is the main refuge for turtles and blue whales. About seven species of turtles live on the island’s beaches alone. Here in Lanka you can find crocodiles, found nowhere else, a huge variety of birds, over 200 species of butterflies and about 120 species of dragonflies.

In addition to the most interesting ancient monuments and wonderfully picturesque nature, Sri Lanka also offers vacationers all kinds of water activities - diving, windsurfing, snorkeling. For fans of extreme sports, there is the opportunity to compete on high-speed boats, go sailing, or simply ride a banana boat. You can also go to the island's wild mountain rivers and go kayaking or canoeing. Many intrepid visitors to Lanka go rock climbing or descend into the deep caves of the island, while young athletes even prefer stunning bicycle descents from mountain peaks.

So a holiday in Sri Lanka can be incredibly exciting, but at the same time, do not forget that it is also very comfortable here. Here, vacationers have everything at their disposal - from luxury five-star hotels, resort hotels, boutique hotels, to eco-shelters, campsites right on the beaches and colonial-era hotels, distinguished by some mystery of past centuries and the spirit of romanticism.

The local national cuisine of Sri Lanka is incredibly tasty; it amazes all tourists with the abundance of spices, fruits and vegetables. And of course, we can’t forget about seafood, there is a great variety of it here. And amazingly delicious local fruits - pineapples, mangoes, papaya, then rare fruits such as rambutan, mangosteen and sapodilla. Naturally, we must also add the bananas, which grow here in incredibly large numbers.

You should also not forget about the opportunity to significantly improve your health while vacationing in Sri Lanka. Tourists here have numerous spa salons and Ayurvedic centers with entire comprehensive healing programs using ancient methods.

The question is quite controversial, since wherever you go, you will end up at an exotic resort and you need to be prepared for all the difficulties associated with this trip. Before making your choice, go to your pediatrician and consult him about the advisability of this trip. If you do decide to travel, then you need to consider several factors.

If we talk about the cost of vacation, then vacation in Sri Lanka is a little more expensive. Even though Goa is a tourist Indian state, the population there cannot boast of large incomes, which is why vacation prices are lower. In terms of nutrition, too, not everything is clear. On the one hand, the choice of fruits in Sri Lanka is much greater. It will be difficult to find even a basic watermelon in Goa, and even if you do find it, its taste will not be the best. In Sri Lanka, fruit is sold almost everywhere, and its appearance almost always corresponds to its quality. At the same time, the basic cuisine is better in India, there is a much larger choice of dishes and they are prepared tastier. In Goa they cook delicious meat and various side dishes, while Sri Lankan cuisine is based on seafood, which will become boring by the end of the holiday and not all children will like such food. It’s much more difficult with fish in Goa; there is much less of it there and it costs at least twice as much. I understand that you are going on vacation with a child, but please note that in Goa alcohol is more than five times cheaper than in Sri Lanka.

When choosing, you will in any case pay attention to the beaches, as this is one of the main components of your vacation. In Sri Lanka, the beaches are more picturesque and beautiful, but in terms of the width of the beach line they are much inferior to the beaches of Goa, where the width of the beach line is 50 meters or more. Despite the beauty of the beaches of Sri Lanka, it is better to go to Goa with a child, since there are no such strong waves and currents as in Sri Lanka. But if you are not going to swim, then it is better to go to Sri Lanka. The reason is that on weekends, a huge number of local residents gather on the beaches of Goa, who come on vacation from different parts of the country.

The population of Sri Lanka is more friendly and less intrusive, there are much fewer beggars, and in terms of cleanliness, these two places are not even worth comparing. Everyone knows perfectly well what problems there are with cleanliness in Goa. On the beaches of Goa, you can often meet locals who will beg you for money or offer you various goods.

If you plan to visit excursions, then you have a direct route to Sri Lanka, since there are much more opportunities for this there. There are also a number of good activities for children.

Each resort has its own positive aspects and disadvantages, but generally speaking, Sri Lanka is more suitable for a holiday with a child, since it is much safer, cleaner and more comfortable there. I would think twice about Goa.

There is no other popular resort area in Asia that is as similar to Sri Lanka as Goa. India by its nature is the closest country to Sri Lanka. Where to go on vacation: Sri Lanka or Goa? What is better for young people or families with children? Where is it cheaper to go? If you are asking yourself any of these questions, then this article will help you find the answer.

Weather

On Sri Lanka's popular southwest coast, the peak season runs from January to March. Good weather usually occurs in December and April as well. In Goa, the holiday season lasts from November to May. Moreover, the amount of rainfall in Goa at this time of year is noticeably lower than in Sri Lanka. However, you can also holiday in Sri Lanka between June and October. Even on the southwest coast, where the southwest monsoon dominates at this time, the weather is not very bad, but on the east coast of the island the weather is completely dry and sunny. In Goa, at this time of year it rains heavily and almost never stops. You can’t even think about any beach holiday in such conditions. So for a holiday in June, July, August and September, Sri Lanka is certainly most suitable. Between October and May, Goa experiences sunnier and drier weather. If you are planning to go on vacation between December and April, you can choose any place, but in Goa the weather will be a little drier.

Tours

Tours to Goa are noticeably cheaper than tours to Sri Lanka. Firstly, this is due to the fact that in Goa there are many very cheap hotels with 1 and 2 stars. In terms of comfort and amenities, these hotels may disappoint you, but the cost of living in them is very low. Secondly, direct charter flights are offered to Goa from some major cities in Russia, while to Sri Lanka you have to fly mainly on regular flights. Moreover, the flight time to Goa is slightly less than the flight time to Sri Lanka. The cost of air tickets for direct charter flights to Goa is noticeably lower than the cost of regular air tickets to Sri Lanka. This greatly affects the cost of tours. In addition, sometimes there are last-minute tours to Goa.
In general, a trip to Goa will cost you less if you compare tours to hotels of a similar level.

Hotels

In both cases, you will have no shortage of hotels to choose from. The nature of hotels in Goa and Sri Lanka are quite similar, but in Goa there are not many good hotels located a stone's throw from the beach. Even luxury 5-star hotels in this resort area are often located away from the beach. So if the location of your hotel near the beach is important to you, then Sri Lanka is probably more suitable for you. There are many all-inclusive hotels on the first line on this island, and many tourists prefer to relax in such hotels.
In Goa you will find many interesting hotels designed in different styles. Often there are hotels here that are a complex of bungalows.

Excursions

Both places offer interesting excursions, but personally I prefer Sri Lanka in this regard. There are many amazing places here in a relatively small area. In Goa, the attractions are generally more modest, but from here you can go to the most interesting sights of India, which are known all over the world. For example, the Taj Mahal.
If you want to see a lot of interesting things during your vacation, we advise you to first explore the sights and excursions in Goa and Sri Lanka, and only then think carefully about where more interesting excursions are offered for you.

Beaches

The beaches of Sri Lanka and Goa are very similar. The beaches in Goa are generally wider and longer, and the water around these beaches is calmer. In Sri Lanka there are several quite beautiful beaches located in bays. For example, these are the beaches of Unawatuna, Weligama and Arugam Bay. The beaches of Goa are more suitable for swimming, and the beaches of Sri Lanka are more suitable for surfing.

For young people

Although youth varies, in most cases Goa is a more suitable option for young people. Some beaches in this resort area have clubs and bars. The beaches of North Goa are crowded with young people, but there are plenty of young people in South Goa too. Another reason for the popularity of Goa among young people is cheaper tours to this resort area of India. It is no secret that young people try to choose what is cheaper.
In Sri Lanka, only one resort can offer relatively interesting nightlife. This resort is Hikkaduwa.

For children

For families with children, Goa looks like a more attractive option. The beaches here are safer for swimming and do not have such strong waves and currents as on the beaches of Sri Lanka. In addition, in hotels in Goa the likelihood of meeting other Russian-speaking children is noticeably higher than in hotels in Sri Lanka. Decent hotels in Goa often have some kind of facilities for children, such as water slides, a kids club or a playground.

Bottom line

In most cases, tourists choose Goa for their holidays, but the popularity of Sri Lanka has been growing in recent years. If this island were offered the same large number of charter flights as in Goa, then most likely it would be able to overtake the famous resort area of India in popularity.
Sri Lanka is more suitable for those who like to stay in all-inclusive hotels located right next to the beach. In addition, this island will appeal to lovers of history, culture and animals. Goa is more suitable for those tourists who do not like to spend a lot of time at the hotel, but prefer to relax on the beaches, walk, and spend time in cafes and bars. This resort area, in my opinion, is better suited for families with children and young people.
