Transportation is carried out by several companies.

On the map, piers from which boats and ferries depart to Koh Phangan are schematically marked with red stars.

Lomprayah

Lompraya's high-speed boats depart from two piers: the Maenam pier and the Nathon pier. On Koh Phangan, Lompraya boats arrive at the central Thong Sala pier. Travel time is 20 – 30 minutes. Cost – 300 baht per person.

It is very convenient that tickets for the Lompraya boat can be bought online on the website (but no later than 3 days before the trip). When purchasing a ticket online, transfer from the hotel or from Samui Airport to the pier is free! Don’t forget to confirm your ordered transfer one day in advance! This can be done by phone or by driving to the office near Maenam Pier.

Haad Rin Queen Ferry (Sea Flower)

For some reason, everyone calls these boats Haad Rin Queen, although their advertising banner near the pier says Sea Flower :) Boats depart from the Big Buddha Pier on Samui (Big Budhha Pier) and arrive at the pier on Koh Phangan (this is next to the beach where Full Moon Party). This is one of the cheapest ways to get to Koh Phangan: a boat ticket costs only 200 baht. Travel time is about an hour. You will also save on a transfer from Thong Sala if you need to go to Haad Rin beach.

Songserm Express

The situation with Songserm Express is unclear. There is no information on their website that they currently operate between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. But we sailed on the Songserm Express boat in June 2015, and then the same boat sailed to Koh Phangan. According to unverified data, there are two flights per day from Samui to Koh Phangan: at 11:00 and at 17:30 from Nathon Pier.

Boat Maenam – Thong Nai Pan

The boat plying the route Maenam Beach (Samui) - Thong Nai Pan Beach (Phangan) is also somewhat mysterious. We have never seen it, although somehow, has anyone swam on it? According to the advertisement, it runs only during the season from January to September. Cost 350 baht, travel time 1.5 hours.

The boat departs from Maenam beach at 12:00 (directly from the center of the beach!), back from Koh Phangan from Thong Nai Pan Noi beach at 9:00. Along the way, he lands on the beaches of Phangan: Haad Rin, Haad Thian, Than Sadet, Thong Nai Pan. A good way to get to Koh Phangan from Samui, if you decide to stay on the best beach of the island - and at the same time save a little (if you get to Koh Phangan on Lompraya, and take a transfer there at the pier, the trip will cost 300 baht + 200 baht = 500 baht, and on this boat - 350 baht).

How to get from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan at Full Moon Party

You can get to the Full Moon Party (which we never attended 🙁) from Koh Samui using a specially organized transfer. The average cost of a transfer is 1000 baht per person round trip; you can buy it at any travel agency or hotel on the island.

The Full Moon Party transfer includes transfer from your hotel to the pier on Koh Samui, from where boats run to Koh Phangan and Haad Rin every hour from 14:00. Boats return from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui every hour from 1 am until 8:00 am.

A week before the Full Moon Party they start selling transfers to and from the party

Raja Ferry

Just recently, in December 2015, a holiday arrived on Samui - the Raja Ferry company finally launched direct ferries from Samui to Koh Phangan. Why holiday? - you ask. But because before it was problematic to get to Koh Phangan from Samui with a car, or even a bike. It was necessary to take a ferry to the mainland to Donsak, and then from Donsak past Samui to take a ferry to Koh Phangan, wasting a lot of time and money.

Now you don’t have to think about how to transfer a bike from Samui to Koh Phangan! With a bike and a car, you can get to Koh Samui on Koh Phangan by Raja Ferry. In addition, the Raja Ferry is the cheapest way to get from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. Departs from Raja Ferry from Lipa Noi Pier. Travel time is 1.5 hours. There is a very nice beach near the Lipa Noi pier on Koh Samui from which the Raja Ferry departs (especially if it is cleared of garbage :)
  • Ticket price for ferry passenger – 150 baht
  • Ticket price for bike + driver – 200 baht
  • Ticket price for a car + driver + one passenger – 620 baht

How to get to Koh Phangan from Surat Thani Airport

Surat Thani Airport is the closest airport to Phangan, where many flights arrive from different cities in Thailand and even other countries. Unlike Samui Airport, you can fly to Surat Thani Airport inexpensively with low-cost airlines AirAsia, NokAir, Thai Lion Air, etc.

Upon arrival at Surat Thani airport, the easiest way is to immediately buy a combined bus + boat or ferry ticket to Koh Phangan. The cost of such a comprehensive ticket ranges from 500 baht on a slow ferry to 700 baht on a high-speed boat. Travel time is from 3.5 hours.

On the ground floor when exiting the airport there are a bunch of offices selling complex tickets to anywhere!

How to get to Surat Thani Airport from Koh Phangan

After a five-day holiday on Koh Phangan, we were therefore faced with the question of how to get to Surat Thani airport from Koh Phangan. If there are no problems with getting to Surat Thani airport from Samui, there are transfers almost every two hours, then from Koh Phangan there weren’t many transfers suitable for us (to catch our plane flight). Below I will list all the options for getting to Surat Thani airport from Koh Phangan.

Transfer Koh Phangan Airport Surat Thani from Raja Ferry company

On the Raja Ferry website you can buy a comprehensive ticket from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani Airport. Five flights per day: 5:00, 7:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 15:00. Travel time is four and a half hours (including 2.5 hours by ferry). Cost 500 baht per person.

Flight Schedules from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani Airport

It was this method that we used when we got to the airport from Koh Phangan. Tickets were purchased in advance on the website and paid by card. An email with a reservation confirmation number was sent to your email address.

Important! Before boarding the ferry (this can be done several days in advance), you need to get ferry and bus tickets at the Raja Ferry ticket office. On Koh Phangan it is not located where the common hall with all the ticket offices is, but behind this hall on the other side.

The transfer went perfectly, everything was fast, clear, without delays. We arrived at the airport very early and sat in the cafe for several hours.

How to get to Koh Phangan from Bangkok

Now about how to get from Koh Phangan, most tourists first fly to Bangkok, and then travel further around the country. There is no airport on Koh Phangan yet (there are rumors that they are planning to build one there, but I hope these are just rumors 🙂), so you will have to get to Koh Phangan island by several types of transport, one of them will definitely be a boat or ferry :)

By plane via Koh Samui to Koh Phangan

Fly to Koh Samui from Bangkok (read how to get to Koh Samui), take a taxi for 400-500 baht or take a free Lompraya transfer (if you bought tickets in advance on the website) to one of the piers, and sail to Koh Phangan by speed boat/ferry , as described above.

Flights to Koh Samui from Bangkok:

By plane via Surat Thani

Use one of the low-cost airlines, for example, AirAsia or Thai Lion Air and fly to Surat Thani airport. From Surat Thani Airport, get to Koh Phangan as described above. Or you can immediately buy a comprehensive ticket from Bangkok to Koh Phangan on the airline’s website, which will include a flight, bus transfer to the pier, and a boat to Koh Phangan.

By bus from Bangkok to Koh Phangan

You can get from Bangkok to Koh Phangan by bus + ferry. You can take a tourist bus from Khao San Road (buy tickets right there on the spot) or take a government bus from the South Bus Terminal in Bangkok (Sai Tai Mai Bus Terminal). The bus will arrive in the city of Surat Thani, where you will need to buy a boat ticket to Koh Phangan. Bus fare is 700-1000 baht.

Or take the Lompraya bus. Lompraya's office is located in Bangkok, right next to Khao San Road. Buses depart from there. Lompraya buses from Bangkok depart at 6 am and 9 pm. After 7 - 8 hours of travel, the buses arrive at Chumporn Pier, from where a speedboat departs for Koh Phangan at 7:30 am and 1:00 pm. The waterway time is about 3 hours. Along the way, the boat drops off passengers on the island. The cost of a ticket from Bangkok to Koh Phangan is 1350 baht.

By train from Bangkok to Koh Phangan

You can travel to Surat Thani or Chumphon by train from Bangkok. Currently there are 11 trains per day. We usually take train number 85 to Surat Thani. In Surat Thani, right next to the train exit you will be offered a comprehensive ticket to Koh Phangan.

You can leave 3 hours earlier in Chumphon and buy a ticket to Koh Phangan there. Then you will get to the island from the other side, not through Koh Samui, but through Ko Tao. But keep in mind that the first boat from Chumphon is at 7:30 am!

By rental car from Bangkok to Koh Phangan

One interesting option is to rent a car in Bangkok for the entire vacation and drive it to Koh Phangan. Along the way you can see something interesting, and generally visit non-tourist places in Thailand.

Rent a car in Bangkok:

How to get to Koh Phangan from Krabi

In Krabi you can buy a comprehensive ticket (bus + boat) to Koh Phangan. Lompraya has four flights a day, travel time is 4.5 - 5 hours. Cost 800 baht. Songserm Express has two flights per day and costs 850 baht. You can also buy tickets from Krabi to Koh Phangan at Pantip Travel.

Phuket Koh Phangan how to get there

Or take a plane on the route Phuket - Samui (several flights per day), find and buy air tickets Phuket - Samui, and then get from Samui to Koh Phangan as described above.

How to get to Koh Phangan from Chiang Mai

The best option for getting to Koh Phangan from (both in terms of money and time) is to use AirAsia and buy a plane ticket Chiang Mai - Surat Thani. And from Surat Thani airport take a comprehensive ticket to Koh Phangan.

One direct flight per day: Chiang Mai - Surat Thani at 12:30 and Surat Thani - Chiang Mai at 14:50. The flight time is about 2 hours, the cost of a plane ticket is from 1200 baht per person (you can catch it cheaper with a promotion, you just have to look for it six months in advance :)

You can, of course, fool yourself a little and take a train/bus to Bangkok, and from Bangkok get to Koh Phangan. But you will spend a lot of time, and you are unlikely to win anything in terms of money.

A more expensive option: fly Chiang Mai - Samui (find and book air tickets Chiang Mai - Samui), and then take a high-speed boat to Koh Phangan.

How to get to Koh Phangan from Kuala Lumpur

Direct flight Kuala Lumper - Samui Bangkok Airways once a day at 8:45 on weekdays and twice a day at 8:45 and 17:45 on weekends, then by speedboat. Flights Kuala Lumpur – Samui.

We were on this flight from Kuala Lumpur, just in time to catch the last ferry to the island :)

How to get to Koh Phangan from Penang

A combined bus + ferry (boat) ticket from Penang to Koh Phangan. Tickets can be purchased at any travel agency or hotel. We bought all our bus tickets in Penang near Komtar Tower. Departure by bus from Penang at 5:00, 8:30 and 12:00. Travel time is about 14 hours. The cost of a comprehensive ticket Koh Phangan - Penang (or in the opposite direction) is ~ 1200 baht.

Bus schedule from Penang (Malaysia) to cities in Thailand

If you know other ways to get to Koh Phangan, please write them in the comments to the article! 🙂

Koh Phangan is a small island with beautiful beaches and lush vegetation (there is no other island in Thailand), but it is famous as the most “party” island in the country. Some kind of parties are constantly held on the island: sometimes “lunar”, sometimes “waterfall”, or just parties in the pool. I’m not such a fan of crowds, alcohol and blaring music, but there is something unique in the atmosphere of the island that makes it worth coming here.

By plane

Koh Phangan does not have its own airport; the nearest airport is on Koh Samui.

There are 6 direct daily flights from Phuket to Koh Samui, direct flights only operated by Bangkok Airways. And the price for these short flights (their duration is no more than 55-65 minutes) is always overpriced.

When you arrive at Samui airport, the easiest way is to buy a single ticket for travel by bus and ferry. And first go by bus to Bangrak Sitran Pier, and from there by ferry to Thong Sala Pier on Koh Phangan.

The entire trip takes 30–40 minutes. The carrier is Seatran Discovery.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets for the Phuket - Samui flight can be searched on the Internet on aggregator sites (for example, here).

You can also buy air tickets on the official website of Bangkok Airways.

Bus and ferry tickets can be bought directly at the airport or online on aggregator websites.

How much are the tickets

Flights Phuket - Samui - Phuket cost 7,200 baht (200 €).

A bus and ferry ticket from Samui Airport to Koh Phangan costs 583 baht (16.30 €).

By car

To get to Koh Phangan from Phuket, you need to drive 290 km along the mainland to the Donsak Raja Ferry Pier, and then take a ferry and sail another 50 km to Koh Phangan.

Or at the ticket office of Phuket bus stations.

Ticket price

Ticket prices include bus and ferry travel.

The price for a bus flight from the Lomprayah carrier from Phuket airport is 1322 baht (37 €).

The price for a bus flight from Phantip Travel from Phuket Town is 550 baht (16 €).

Conclusion

Each travel option has its advantages: a plane saves time, a bus saves money, and a car trip gives you the most vivid impressions.

They don’t sell tours to us - we don’t know whether to be happy about this fact or upset. But let’s not go into discussions on this issue and return to more pressing matters.

First you need to fly to Bangkok. Sometimes there are interesting offers on flights to Phuket, but mostly we will consider options via Bangkok. Flights from Russia to Thailand:

Thai Airlines: www.thaiairways.com

Swiss - the cheapest tickets if your stay in Thailand is more than a month: www.swiss.com
Aerosvit is the cheapest of all, good connections in Kyiv: www.aerosvit.com
Finnair - for those who like to “roll back” a Finnish visa, a connection in Helsinki, you can go through border control, smoke a cigarette and “enter” back into the sterile zone. Result: You went to Finka - your visa is stamped: www.finnair.com
Turkmenistan Airlines is an average price, but if you need a ticket urgently, sometimes they are the only ones to help out. Connections in Ashgabat are good. Tickets are only available on paper at the company office.

Uzbekistan Airlines also has cheap tickets: www.uzairways.com
And of course, Lufthansa www.lufthansa.com and Airfrance www.airfrance.ru- expensive, but on sales you can get it for 21-23 thousand round trip and fly on an A-380.
To search for tickets, you can also use sites like www.cheaptrip.ru , www.skyscanner.ru , www.aviasales.ru , www.anywayanyday.com, and if there is an opportunity to pack your bags and leave without prior planning, then the website often comes to the rescue www.tourdom.ru, section "Exchange".

So, you have arrived in Thailand... now how to get to Koh Phangan.

There are many options - by plane + boat or ferry, by train + boat or ferry and by bus + boat or ferry. Let's consider each of the options in more detail.

By plane + boat/catamaran or ferry.

There are also several options for different tastes and wallet thicknesses.
The first option: the most comfortable, and also the most expensive, is to fly to the neighboring island of Koh Samui. And from Samui to Koh Phangan you can take a speed boat or catamaran. The sail takes about 30-50 minutes depending on the carrier company, the ticket price is 200-300 baht.

Samui Airport website www.samuiairportonline.com
Flights are available for:
1. Bangkok Air: www.bangkokair.com

There are two airports in Bangkok. The one you will fly to from Russia, the international one, is called Suwannapum. There is another one for domestic flights - Don Mueang Airport.
From Suvannaphum Airport to Don Mueang Airport:

- taxi. It is best to use the services of an official taxi (public taxi). Follow the signs for “public taxi” on the ground floor. Find the “public taxi” counter and tell your destination. You will be given a “ticket”, where information for the driver is indicated in Thai. Give this “ticket” to the driver. If you decide to take the toll road to save time, please note that travel on it is paid by the passenger - 25-45 baht
There are almost always long queues at official taxi stands; you can try to catch a taxi in another place, but then make sure that the taxi driver clearly understands where you are going. Travel time is 30 minutes, but if you get stuck in a traffic jam, which is common in Bangkok, then you understand... On average, the fare is 400-500 baht according to the meter. Always ask taxi drivers to turn on the taxi meter.
The second option: already cheaper is to fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani. The ticket price will be about 2000 baht one way, promotions are often held and the cost may be lower (1300-1500 baht).
Flights are available for:
1) AirAsia: www.airasia.com
2) NokAir: www.nokair.com Departure from Don Mueang Airport.
There are baggage weight restrictions, see the airline website for details.
3) Lion Air: http://www.lionair.co.id Departure from Don Mueang Airport.
4) Thai Smile: www.thaismileair.com There are flights from both Suvannaphum Airport and Don Mueang Airport.
The number of flights and schedule may vary. Check with airline websites.
At Surat Thani Airport, after collecting your luggage, there are counters where you can purchase bus + ferry tickets to Koh Phangan. The cost of such a ticket is about 500 baht. You can also buy tickets in advance on the website www.phantiptravel.igetweb.com

Third option: Flight Bangkok - Chumphon, departure from Don Mueang airport with NokAir www.nokair.com
There are baggage weight restrictions, see the airline website for details. From Chumporn Airport there is a free transfer to the pier, and from there by boat to Koh Phangan. The cost of such a combined ticket is approximately 2,500 baht.
Fourth option: Flight Bangkok - Chumphon, departure from Don Mueang airport. by SolarAir airline www.solarair.co.th
There are baggage weight restrictions, see the airline website for details. From Chumporn Airport there is a free transfer to the pier, and from there by boat to Koh Phangan.
The cost of such a combined ticket is approximately 3,500 baht.

Fifth option: If you are flying from Russia not to Bangkok, but to Phuket.
Phuket International Airport (Phuket Island)
online scoreboard www.phuketairportonline.com/node/12
This airport can be considered as an option if you are going to fly local airlines to Koh Samui - the prices for a local Phuket-Samui flight are much more pleasant than Bangkok-Samui. Bangkok Air flies www.bangkokair.com
The cost of a one-way ticket is approximately 2,750 baht. Travel time is 55 minutes. Check the schedule on the airline's website.
By land from Phuket to Koh Phangan you can take a bus via Surat Thani or Chumphon. The cost of a one-way ticket is from 550 to 680 baht, depending on the carrier.

By bus + boat/catamaran or ferry.

As in the previous version with the airplane, there are also several variations.

1 Bus + catamaran from the Lomparaya company. You can book your ticket on the website:
www.lomprayah.com and confirm in Bangkok, at the Lomparaya office on Khau San Street, the bus departs from there. You can buy a ticket on the spot, but on the days before and after the full moon party (the largest party in Koh Phangan on the day, or rather the night, of the full moon) there may not be places available for the same day. For several years now, the bus schedule has not changed - departure at 21:00, arrival in Koh Phangan at 10:45. The ticket costs approximately 1350 baht. Check the cost and departure time on the company's website. The bus travels overnight to Chumphon, where you are unloaded at Lomparayi pier around 5 am. There you wait a little over an hour (there is food, a normal toilet and sun loungers), then take a high-speed catamaran to Phangan. Before Koh Phangan, the catamaran makes a stop at Ko Tau. The swim, as you already understand, is long, take this into account if you get seasick at sea, and take appropriate measures in advance - anti-sickness pills, etc.
From Suwannaphum Airport to Khau San Street you can take the Airport Rail Link - this is a train that departs from the ground floor of the airport. Its opening hours are from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. On the ground floor, follow the signs To City-Train-to City-City Line.

It comes in several types.
— City Line (SA City Line) — goes to the final station Phyathai Station. Stops along the way at seven stations, namely: Lardkrabang, Baan Tubchang, Hua Maak, Ramkhanhaeng, Makkasan, Rajaprarop, Phyathai. Travel time is 30 minutes. The fare ranges from 15 to 45 baht depending on the number of stations.

- Suvarnabhumi Airport Express - Phaya Thai (Phaya Thai Express Line) - departs every hour and goes non-stop for 18 minutes, arriving at Phyathai Station. The ticket price is 90 baht (one way) and 150 baht (round trip, the validity period of such a ticket is 14 days).

Suvarnabhumi Airport Express-Makkasan (Makkasan Express Line). It goes non-stop for 15 minutes and arrives at Makkasan Station. The ticket price is 90 baht (one way) and 150 baht (round trip, the validity period of such a ticket is 14 days).

We recommend using one of the first two types - either City Line (SA City Line) or Suvarnabhumi Airport Express. The trains are air conditioned and can be quite cool, so a warm jacket can be very useful.

Phyathai Station is located 5 km from the main tourist street of Bangkok - Khau San. Any taxi driver knows where this street is located, and it is also listed in all guidebooks to Bangkok.
2. State bus “999 Government Bus” + ferry.
Tickets for a lot of different buses from Bangkok to Surat Thani are sold at any travel agency, for example on Khao San Road. How to get from the airport to Khau San Street, see above. Cost from 650 for a bus only to 1200 baht for a bus + boat. There are many options, all buses leave in the evening from the square adjacent to Khau San (except for the official regular one) and bring you in the morning to one of the piers near Surat Thani (most often in Don Sak, at the Raja Ferry pier). The bus travels all night with several stops for food and toilet visits. Usually the buses are old and completely uncomfortable. Even if the travel agency pictures show you otherwise, the reality will most likely disappoint you.
The most decent bus is called “999 Government Bus”, this is an official regular bus, it starts from the Southern Bus Terminal or, as the Thais call it, Sai Tai Mai. There are two options that differ in the number of seats on the bus, comfort and price - regular and VIP, in the VIP version the seats are almost completely reclining.
In VIP (24 seats) boarding starts at 19:30, departure at 19:50. Arrival at Koh Phangan at 09:30. Ticket price is approximately 1100-1200 baht, the price includes a ferry ticket to the island.
Regular (36 seats) departs at 19:30, arriving in Koh Phangan at 09:30. Ticket price is approximately 750-850 baht.

The Southern Bus Station is located on Boromratchchonnani Street. The station occupies a large four-story building, on the territory of which there is a lot of interesting things. The first floor has parking, a storage room, a 7-Eleven chain store (seven/eleven; 7/11), several small bank branches, ATMs, stalls with clothes and other goods at ridiculous prices. On the second floor there are several cafes, small shops with the same clothes and a variety of goods, and mostly all at low prices. The ticket offices are located on the third floor of the station, occupying almost the entire floor. On the fourth floor you will find a food court, massage chairs, slot machines, an internet cafe, and a small photo studio. In general, if you arrive in the morning or afternoon, then at this station you can wait relatively comfortably for the departure time of your bus.
From Suwannabum Airport you can get to the South Bus Terminal from the Airport Transportation Center bus station by bus number 556. The cost is approximately 35 baht.
http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/56
You can also get to the South Bus Station by bus 511 from Khao San Street, bus 507 and 159 from Hua Lamphong Railway Station.

Several buses 28, 158, 515 also run from Victory Monument BTS (metro) station.

The landing reminded me of the storming of the St. Petersburg metro in the morning.

By train to Surat Thani + boat/catamaran or ferry.

The cost of this option, including train + bus + boat tickets, is approximately 1000-1500 baht, depending on the agency, type of car/train and boat.
Official website of the railway.
http://www.railway.co.th/home/default.aspx?ID=&lang=EN
You can buy a train ticket to Surat Thani at any travel agency or directly at the train station. You can purchase tickets for lying down seats, each seat is curtained, the shelves are very wide and long, they will provide you with and help you lay out clean linen from a sealed bag. There are normal toilets on trains. There are carriages with and without air conditioning. It is better to take without air conditioning, as otherwise the chances of getting sick are very high. because the cold in air-conditioned carriages is terrible and no blankets help. Judging by the reviews of friends, the best option is to choose a night train, a second-class carriage without air conditioning, and if you have a choice, then the lower bunk, since it is more convenient than the upper one.

There are many types of trains and carriages, below we will try to explain:

1BK (A.N.F.) = 1st class, night with air conditioning.

2BK (A.N.S.) = 2nd class, night with air conditioning.

2B (B.N.S.) = 2nd class, night without air conditioning.

2SK = 2nd class, seated with air conditioning.

2S = 2nd grade, sedentary.

3SK = 3rd class, seated with air conditioning.

3S = 3rd grade, sedentary.

DRC 2SK (A.P.D.; A.P.N.) = Express, 2nd class, seated with air conditioning, with meals (diesel electric train).

1 class. Car with air conditioning. If you are frost-resistant, then it will suit you. The compartment has two beds and a washbasin. Clean food, soap and towel are provided. The toilet at the end of the carriage has a shower with cold water. In Thailand, cold water is not the same as cold water in Russia, so most likely there will be no discomfort. The shelves can be installed in both a lying and sitting position. In compartments, it is customary to sell tickets to passengers of the same sex.

2nd class, recumbent. Maybe with air conditioning, maybe without. Here the shelves are located not in individual compartments, but along the wall of the car on both sides of the central aisle. Until the evening, the seats face each other, and at night, a shelf is formed from the two lower seats. The top shelf folds out of the wall. The guides will bring a mattress and fresh bed linen. Each bunk has curtains to ensure privacy. The top shelf is cheaper because it is narrower. There is a place for luggage with the ability to close it with a chain and lock.

2nd grade, sedentary. From our point of view, it is only convenient for day trips. There are carriages with air conditioning and others without. In those carriages without air conditioning, the windows open.

DRC. This is a modern train with air conditioning and comfortable seats that recline. You will be offered snacks along the way.

3rd grade, sedentary. Option for short distances. The carriages come with relatively soft or wooden seats.

If you only have a train ticket, there are several agencies right on the square near the Surat Thani station platform that sell tickets for transfer to the pier + boat/catamaran/ferry. Usually you don’t have to wait long, the buses are adjusted to the arriving trains.
From Suwannabhumi Airport to the railway station (called Hua Lamphong) you can take the Suvarnabhumi Airport City Line. Having reached Makkasan station, you need to transfer to the underground metro (MRT) to Phetchaburi station. To do this, go down from the 4th floor (City Line and Express Line ride high above the ground), and walk in the opposite direction of the train for about 300 meters to the intersection, where you need to turn right and walk about another 100 meters. You can follow the crowd and signs and follow them.
At the entrance to the metro station there are machines where you can buy a token by first selecting the desired station (costs 15-40 baht depending on the number of stations). The machine accepts coins, paper and gives change. There is an English interface. You can also buy a ticket from a person at the box office.
When entering, the token must be applied to the turnstile, and not lowered into it! But at the exit just lower it. If you get off at a station further away, a beep will sound and you will need to pay extra, there is nothing wrong with that. The railway station is located at the final station of the underground metro (MRT), which has the same name as the station itself - Hua Lamphong. On the metro map it is the thin blue line on the left.
So, at the railway station, to get to Koh Phangan, you choose the southern direction. Check the website for schedule information. http://www.railway.co.th/checktime/checktime.asp?lenguage=Eng http://www.railway.co.th/home/default.aspx?ID=&lang=EN

Overcoming the water surface

  • large night boats (their peculiarity is that the leisurely trip to the island lasts all night);
  • faster boat options (for example, transport from the Lomprayah company).

Hua Lamphong

This type of transport can take you from Hua Lamphong Station (station of the same name) to:

  • southern province of Thailand - Surat Thani by train No.: 39, 35,37, 41, 83, 85, 167, 169, 171, 173. (Departure times vary. The journey will take about 11 hours. The cost of the ticket depends on the selected amenities. It varies from 15 to 45 US dollars);

If you choose to travel through Chumphon, then you need to get off the train three hours earlier. In this case, the tourist will get to Koh Phangan from the opposite side of the island through Koh Tao. Here you should calculate your route taking into account the fact that the first boat leaves from Chumphon to the island only at 7.30.

This city of Thailand can be reached from Bangkok by cheaper trains departing from Thon Buri station. Ticket price is $10. The seats on the train are seating only. The cars are equipped with fans. This transport departs twice a day. In the morning at 7.30, in the evening at 19.30. The trip lasts 8 hours.

The further route from Samui airports will take a taxi directly to the piers. The price of the service is 12-15 dollars. Or, if the ticket was purchased in advance through a certain company, you can use the free transfer to the pier. Next, a boat or ferry will take you to Koh Phangan.

Full Moon Party is the main reason why tourists go to Koh Phangan. Beaches, beautiful nature and everything like that fade into the background. It is best to go to such an event with friends, in other words, a get-together (alone or even together it can be a little boring and even uncomfortable, although it all depends on the person). If you want to stay overnight on Koh Phangan, then you need to take care of accommodation in advance, since it is impossible to find accommodation during the full moon. There are several ways to get to this island, but you must understand that it is not both fast and cheap, you need to choose something. The best way is to buy a transfer to Koh Phangan from any tourist shop and not worry about anything else. Considering that the Full Moon Party is a popular event, finding such a transfer will not be difficult. I can’t tell you a specific price, since different travel agencies have their own prices, but on average such a trip per person will cost 600-800 baht (if the issue of saving is acute, then do not forget to bargain, at least some discount, but you will get ). You can save 200-300 baht and try to get there yourself, but I would not advise you to do this, since the road is not easy and in total the savings will be no more than 300 baht. First, you will need to get by bus to Surat Thani (if I wrote it correctly), and from there by ferry to Koh Phangan. Such a journey will not only be difficult physically, but also long in time.

Therefore, purchasing a transfer is the best option. Early in the morning you will be picked up at your hotel by minibus, after which you will be taken to the port along with other tourists, and from there directly to the island of Panang. No extra hassle, worry or other fuss. The bus ride will take about six hours, so you need to take enough water with you (the bus stops only a few times, and not at every request). In total, the journey takes about nine hours, and during this time you can find many new acquaintances from the number of people who will travel with you. Try to keep all valuables with you. Leaving your hotel early in the morning, you will arrive in Koh Phangan at approximately eight o'clock in the evening. In order not to feel tired at the event, it is advisable to arrive a day before it, so that you have the opportunity to get some sleep and regain your senses.

There is another option. It is the shortest in time, but the most expensive in cost. This option is that you can quickly fly by plane to Koh Samui, and from there for only 300 baht by speedboat to Koh Phangan. But, firstly, on the eve of the festival, tickets need to be booked in advance, and secondly, their cost is about three thousand baht. This is roughly how you can get from Phuket to Koh Phangan.
