There are only a few main attractions in Borjomi: Central Park, cable car, outdoor pools. And a tourist street along the river, where they sell jam.
Outside the center is the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and the Green Monastery.

If you want to get water in your big bottle, it's chargeable. 3 lari behind 3 liters. We bring bottles with us. If anything, you can buy empty containers at the entrance to the park.
After a day, mineral water completely loses its beneficial properties, so there is no point in gaining for the future.

There is a road to the pools, but walking is more fun and more useful, right?
We go into the central park and walk along the path past the waterfall and the monument to Prometheus. Further 40 minutes along the forest path to the pools.
An alternative is to take a taxi to the bathing place for 10 lari.
There are three baths with hydrogen sulfide water of different temperatures (maximum 30C). There is a dressing room, WC.
There are a lot of people in the morning and afternoon, it is better to come in the evening. Take water and food with you if you plan to have a picnic.
We also return on foot through the forest.
The route (below on the map) is only for the warm season (spring-autumn). Suitable for a healthy person who likes to walk in the mountains.

How to get to Borjomi
🚐 Minibus
From Tbilisi with metro Didube, 8 lari($3 / 200 r), 3 hours on my way.
From Batumi once a day at 10.00 there is a direct minibus from the old bus station (Mayakovsky, 1). On my way 5-6 hours. Price 20 lari.
Alternative option: drive from Batumi to Khashuri, 4 hours 30 minutes, 17-20 lari ($8 / 500 r). Any minibus or bus going to Tbilisi will do.
Exit at the ring in Khashuri and catch a minibus to Borjomi (30 minutes, 2 GEL). They go often.
The easiest way is a taxi. Transfer from Tbilisi costs 52$+ . From Batumi 89$ , from Kutaisi 64$.

Group tours to Borjomi from Tbilisi cost 23-32€ from a person. Individual sold by 120-160€ for groups of 1-3-5 people.
They provide a visit not only to Borjomi, but also to other attractions, last about 10 hours, and 6-7 hours will have to be spent on the road.

After all, it is located in the heart of the Borjomi forest and you need to walk 1.2 kilometers from the main road to it.
The above-mentioned fortresses used to be the property of local feudal lords. Although they bear such a name, they are real castles. They have towers, ballrooms, wine cellars. Now it looks more like ruins. Not far from them is the summer residence of the emperor. Its original state is completely preserved. And you can look at how the royal family rested.
The historical museum hosts an exhibition of jewelry from the second millennium BC. There are bronze statues, personal belongings of the Romanov family and much more. The museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and the entrance fee is symbolic 3 GEL.
Entrance to Central Park is also paid. You will have to pay 0.5 GEL to visit the most famous attractions, paths, as well as fountains. This amount is equivalent to about 13 rubles. Perhaps the most comfortable and fastest way to travel to Borjomi is by taxi. The cost of such a service is very different and largely depends on the ability to bargain. The cost of the trip can be from 100 to 200 lari (from 2100 to 4200 rubles). Travel time is about 2 hours. This method is most optimal for small tourist groups of 3-4 people, when travel costs can be divided equally.
Movement around Borjomi
Tourists and locals prefer to get around Borjomi on foot or by taxi. The city itself is quite small, so in a few hours it can be completely bypassed. The cost of a trip around the city and the immediate surroundings by taxi is 2-3 GEL (41-62 rubles).
A narrow-gauge railway connects Borjomi with the village of Bakuriani, a famous ski resort in Georgia. Trains depart from the same station in Borjomi, where electric trains arrive.
The road operates all year round, mainly tourists use it, wanting to admire the views of local mountains from the windows of the train. This train is also used by travelers who come to Bakuriani to go skiing. The total travel time on the Borjomi-Bakuriani route is about 2.5 hours, making about 10 stops.
Every day, railway trains make 2 flights from Borjomi at 07:00 and at 11:00 and two flights back from Bakuriani at 10:00 and at 14:00.

It is believed that it is better to ride in the 2nd car, because thanks to the large windows you can admire the views from the train window almost without interference.
This is a quiet, cozy green town. We drank mineral water, swam in pools with healing water and explored the surroundings. But since my friend and I are still young and energy boils in us, we soon got bored with such a measured way of life and we went further to the capital of Georgia -.
Here we spent several more busy days. Tbilisi is very different. There are quiet corners and noisy places, ancient and modern architecture, cafes and restaurants offering local cuisine or sushi and pizza ... In general, everyone will find something for themselves here. We got to Tbilisi by car, because we arrived in Georgia on our own. But there are other ways to get from Borjomi to Tbilisi.
Borjomi to Tbilisi by train
The train from to departs twice a day: at 7:05 am and at 4:45 pm. On the road, both flights spend about 4-4.5 hours. Quite a long time, considering that the distance between cities is only 150 km.
The flights we need are underlined in red. In general, having chosen the train, on the way to Tbilisi you can get enough sleep, read a detective story or a novel, solve all the crossword puzzles in the magazine ... that's another entertainment. 
The train is a typical electric train that has been preserved since Soviet times. True, it is worth noting that it has been somewhat modernized. The cabin of the electric locomotive is overcooked, and resembles modern high-speed trains (it's funny, considering that the train travels 150 km in 4 hours))) There are also changes in the cabin - soft seats are installed instead of benches. Otherwise, everything is like in the trains of our childhood. There are no dry closets and air conditioners in the train cabin. The train consists of 5 wagons.
The train passes both railway stations in Borjomi, but it is more convenient to land, in my opinion, at the Park station.
Where to buy tickets
You can buy tickets at the railway station in or already in the car from the controller. You can also try to use the railway website to buy. But as I understand it, buying tickets is available only after registering on the site. And the interface of the site is not very clear. It's easier to buy tickets at the box office. Fortunately, many Georgians understand Russian without any problems.

By bus
Bus is the second option to get to Tbilisi by public transport. The journey by bus will take almost half as long as by train - only 2.5 hours. But the cost will also be higher. Starting from 7 am to 7 pm, buses depart to the capital at intervals of about once an hour.
There are completely different buses on the route. They can be large or small (minibuses or minibuses), almost new or battered. It all depends on how lucky you are. Therefore, it is difficult to predict how comfortable your trip will be.

By car
As I said, we traveled by car. By the way, if you came to Georgia without a car, I recommend renting it. Look at the options offered by different rental offices on special sites, for example, on. Choosing a car, you will not depend on the schedule and good luck to ride in a brand new minibus or a Soviet pazik.
But back to our road. The distance between cities is about 150 km. It is realistic to drive it in 2-2.5 hours. Can't get too fast. First, the road is still mountainous. Wherever you go in Georgia, one way or another you will have to go along the serpentines. Let the road and not a continuous serpentine, but sometimes you have to slow down. The second reason for slowness is the stunning views. There are plenty of them on the way to Tbilisi.
The condition of the road to Tbilisi is average. Of course, the roads of Georgia are far in their condition from European autobahns, but the suspension of the car is clearly not in danger. There are gas stations along the route. There are also cafes. So neither you nor your car will remain hungry. In general, it is difficult to stay hungry in Georgia))) It took us about 27 GEL (about 10 euros) for the road.
If you want to get to cheap - choose the train. You need to get there quickly - then you need a bus. Even faster - only by car.
