How to get to Montenegro from Moscow. Direct flights

It is clear that the cheapest option is a direct flight from Moscow or St. Petersburg. However, during the season you may encounter the problem of unreasonably inflating prices by air carriers, so we will consider all acceptable options.

There are 2 international airports in Montenegro: in Podgorica and Tivat. From Moscow, regular flights of both Russian and foreign airlines fly daily, throughout the year. Closer to the season, flights from St. Petersburg are also added. As a rule, the price for them is slightly more expensive, so if St. Petersburg is preferable to you as a starting point, do not be lazy - check it out. There is also a possibility of detecting flights from other major cities in the country.

Balkan airlines, as a rule, reduce the price of tickets with a transfer in Belgrade (saving about 2-3 thousand from a round-trip ticket), while the transfer in most cases takes from 40 minutes to 2 hours, which is not very tiring.

How to get to Montenegro from Belgrade (Serbia)

There are three ways to get from Belgrade to Montenegro:

During the summer season there are regular charter flights from Russia to Tivat and Podgorica. Charter and summer flights are also operated from a number of countries neighboring Russia.

In general, although Montenegro is considered a popular and accessible holiday destination in terms of price and transport logistics, if you fly there on your own, the ticket prices can be unpleasantly surprising. Especially if the flight is not from Moscow. By bus

By car

Attention! After Montenegro declared independence from Yugoslavia, full border formalities began to function between the two countries. Direct train route to Bar

Direct communication with Montenegro and Russia opens from June 5 to September 10. A train departs from the Kievsky railway station in Moscow to Budapest, passing through Kyiv. How to get to Montenegro by train without transfers, tips for tourists:

• Departure days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tickets are purchased in advance, 2-3 weeks before the start of the holiday.
• Price. For first class one way – 252 Euro, with a return ticket – 468 €. Second class seats are cheaper - 217 and 398 Euros. But due to travel time, they overpay for vacations on the road.
• Transfer in Budapest. It lasts two hours, during which time you can explore the city center and eat in nearby cafes and restaurants.
• Registration of a Hungarian transit visa – 35 euros per person. Time – up to two weeks.

Ticket prices are not cheaper than air travel, but during the flight you can see the sights of Eastern Europe. The option to travel by train to Montenegro is relevant for independent travelers or those whose vacation will be long. Service in the carriages is in Russian, the food is good, tea is included in the price of the train ticket.

We are going to a resort with transfers

The option with transfers is available all year round. The train departs from Moscow and proceeds to Belgrade. There you need to buy a ticket for a trailer carriage to Bar, it passes Podgorica. Do this in advance; in summer there is not always room. Travel time is 67 hours. They often stop in Belgrade for one or several days to sightsee and visit museums. Organization of independent travel with a transfer:

• Tickets – 200 and 368 €, in second class – 170 and 303 Euro.
• The train to Montenegro departs twice a day.
• The day compartment has only seats, the night compartment has a compartment where you can sleep

Travel time is 7-12 hours. It's faster to drive at night, but you can't see the country's landscapes. The carriages have an air conditioning system and the service is good. Smoking is officially prohibited, but local passengers do so as a tradition. There is no use in complaining, you can make a remark.

The compartment has two or three people, there are washbasins, air conditioning, clothes hangers, a refrigerator and a shower. Montenegrins are unsociable, but friendly, and it is convenient to travel with them in the same compartment.

Preparing for the trip

First, a Hungarian transit visa is issued. To confirm a tourist trip, you need to submit an application and reservation for a hotel, villa or apartment. A bank account is not needed, nor is the amount in it. Having done this, you can collect things. Before traveling by train to Montenegro, luggage is divided into two parts - for rest and travel. Theft and fraud along this route were not recorded, but precious items and money are placed separately.

Preparing for train travel:

• Products. Do not take perishable items; sealed packaging is required. Still drinks, plain water is better. They are expensive on the train.
• Cloth. It’s casual at home, you don’t need warm clothes, the air conditioning works, you can adjust the temperature.
• Money. You need cash; bank cards are not accepted in the dining car, nor in the shops at the stations.
• Book or tablet. There is no Wi-Fi, they download movies in advance and take books with them. For children - soft toys.

They arrive at the station in advance, 20-30 minutes before departure. The trailer car is at the end of the train, it has a sign on it. If children are traveling, a power of attorney, international passport or birth certificate with translation is prepared.
