Skiing without roads. Where to ski and snowboard: Resorts in Russia and neighboring countries

Why go to the Alps, if you are not friends with winter sports and the last time you skied was at school? I am often asked about this by my sports readers, who cannot imagine a holiday in the mountains without skis and snowboards. Well, I'm telling you!

1. I went on my first Alpine winter vacation 3 years ago. I thought it would be boring, especially since I didn’t drive a car then, but they showed that there was no time to be bored there. This time, going on a trip around, I was absorbed in only one problem - how to have time to see everything beautiful! Therefore, every day at nine in the morning I got behind the wheel and drove towards beauty. One day the road took me to Ortisei, a famous Italian ski resort, where friends were just spending their sports holidays.

2. But you can’t just come to Ortisei just like that, especially if you are a blogger and photographer who is eager to capture all the beautiful things that you meet along the way! Therefore, you need to lay more time on the road in order to have time to shoot everything you want.

3. You can't go from Bolzano to Ortisei and not stop by the wonderful town of Castelrotto. A tiny commune of 6 thousand people has preserved a charming old center, practically untouched by modernity.

4. It is adjacent to such mountains! These are the Dolomites, which the Italians, great patriots, consider the most beautiful Alps. I share their opinion, because, firstly, I love Italy very much, and, secondly, I know this part of the most impressive European mountain range best of all. I can’t help but note how even in tiny Castelrotto everything is perfectly organized for tourists: the most attentive of you will probably see the sign to the underground parking. This is not where there was definitely nowhere to park.

5. This is what the historic center of Castelrotto looks like. The trip took place at the very beginning of January, and therefore the Christmas decorations were still pleasing to the eye.

6. Almost all of these houses are hotels, and many retain their purpose for hundreds of years.

7. The walls of many houses are painted - if you have traveled to the north of Italy, Austria or Switzerland, you are familiar with this lovely tradition.

8. I like the neighborhood of murals and signs! Did you see a black cat on the back of Baba Yaga? 😉

10. The mountains in the background are the three peaks of Lavaredo, which form one of the most recognizable silhouettes of the Dolomites.

11. Another beautiful example of painting, and, apparently, modern.

12. Well, here is just a delight! Look how richly decorated the house is!

13. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from Castelrotto to Ortisei. At the Seceda ski lift, again, a spacious underground parking is provided, because not only those who live in Ortisei itself ride here, in the Dolomites Superski zone. The Superski Dolomites is a huge ski area, including, for example, the famous Cortina d'Ampezzo, and is considered the largest ski resort in the world.

14. The first week of January here is the Russian season. Italians come to the mountains for Christmas and return home at the very beginning of the new year, giving way to tourists from Russia in hotels and on the slopes. We decided to meet with friends at the top, on the mountain, and therefore I had to stand in a rather long queue for the lift. I can say that 80% of those who stood with me were Russians. It's great that the crisis has not yet finished off everyone!

15. Twenty minutes in line, 20 minutes of climbing, 56 euros for a round-trip ticket for two - and here you are at an altitude of 2.5 thousand meters. The views are fantastic!

16. The valley seems to be in the palm of your hand, and it seems that you can reach the mountains with your hand.

17. The same lift that brought me to the top.

18. Ortisei somewhere down there.

20. The only mountains that can be seen are better than mountains! This is what I realized after mine.

21. It only seems that there is nothing to do at the top without skis! But what about hearty potato gnocchi with truffles in a cozy restaurant on the mountain? How fragrant thin slices of bacon? They taste even better this way ;)

22. Let's go down! The descent on the lift, by the way, takes as much time here as on skis - they spotted it!

23. And here is the center of Ortisei, where I got at the right time, when twilight was just beginning to descend on the town. At the same time, skiers are returning from the slopes, the streets are getting busy.

25. Fairy tale! Is it possible to deprive yourself of enjoying these views and atmosphere just because you do not ski? It is forbidden!

27. “When will you change your camera for skis?” - as if this serious gentleman asks. Change, change...

28. However, I say this every season;)

29. How do you ride? Or how am I just enjoying the atmosphere?

Snowboarding appeared in Russia a long time ago and has firmly won a place in the hearts of active people. Many people are happy to take boards with them on vacation and go to the mountains. These may be our favorite places, or there may be new ones - sometimes we start discovering new slopes on the advice of friends. However, it is always interesting to find out what places other people like, those that Russian tourists are unlikely to encounter in their daily lives. We will now tell you about which mountain resorts are considered the best for boarding by former British champion Chris Moran.

Another advantage of the Zillertal valley is the relative cheapness for resorts located in the Alps. Almost every house in the valley is a hotel with a boarding house and there are more than 800 of them, and it is here that European youth come to ride. By the way, tourists are transported from the railway station throughout the valley by free (if you have a ski pass) buses.

In addition to the magnificent snow, the advantages of the resort include not only a good fun park, but also an original culture, hot springs and a volcano in the background of the picture as a keepsake.

According to Guardian

The best vacation spot for fans of winter is ski resorts. This is where you can enjoy fluffy snowdrifts, white hats on trees and houses, and popular methods of warming arising from weather conditions - sauna and mulled wine. However, a trip to such places requires the presence of certain sports skills. And what about those who love snow, but don't know how to ski? Play snowballs in the yard? Not at all! Feel free to go to the snow-capped mountains, because without skis you can have fun there just as well.

1. Walking on snowshoes. Val Gardena, Italy

The most ancient device for moving on snow - snowshoes are experiencing a rebirth. In recent years, they have become simply wildly popular among residents of the mountainous regions of Europe. Snowshoeing is promoted as one of the least traumatic sports and the best way to improve health. Indeed, moderate physical activity, combined with the purest mountain air and magnificent landscapes, is nothing more than a vaccine against dislike for physical education.

European travel agencies already offer organized snowshoe tours with guides. The route is planned in such a way that it is not only safe, but also educational. During the walk, tourists can see representatives of the local fauna or learn legends and legends, of which there are plenty in any mountainous region.

The main thing to take care of when going on such a walking tour is the right choice of clothes. Walking in deep snow, even with snowshoes, still requires some effort, so you need to dress in such a way that it is comfortable to move, but at the same time not to freeze in the mountains, where it is always much colder and windier than on the plain. For example, a windproof ski suit is ideal.

Participation price: depending on the route and duration of the walk, the excursion

on snowshoes costs from 30 to 55 euros (including equipment rental).

2. Tubing. Twin Bridges, USA

In principle, tubing is the same sled, only more comfortable. Inflatable rubber chambers, similar to giant donuts, have recently been increasingly flashing on the snow-white slopes. Many European ski resorts now even organize special areas for tubing or simply arrange events during which they ride circles on ordinary ski slopes.

There is only one requirement for slopes - they should not be too steep, since it is impossible to control the tubing: when you try to slow down with your hands, it starts to rotate, therefore, high speed is very dangerous. For this reason, choosing a place for such fun is not easy. Finding a suitable slide, so that it turns out to be not only gentle enough, but also interesting, is not at all easy.

The Americans manage to combine all the criteria for ideal tubing better than others, which is not surprising, because in the USA this entertainment has been popular for more than a dozen years. Here, in many states, special tubing parks are even arranged in winter. An example is Blizzard Mountain in the Sierra ski area, near Lake Tahoe (three hours from San Francisco and one and a half from Sacramento). Local descents boast several turns protected by semi-circular bumpers, thanks to which skiing is by no means boring. Yes, and there is no need to “carry sleds” uphill here - at the beginning of the descent, the skiers, along with their bulky equipment, are delivered by a lift belt.

Ticket price: $30 for two hours (tubing rental included).

3. Bathing. Loferer Almbanen, Austria

Many ski resorts in Austria are famous for their thermal springs. Indeed, what could be nicer than a warm relaxing mineral bath after a day of skiing. However, the town of Loferer-Almbahnen, not far from Salzburg, has gone much further than others in its love for spa treatments, because riders who go uphill with skis or snowboards are offered to save time and immediately take a ticket to the thermal complex. Rather, a general ticket - to visit both the slopes and the baths, but the associative array is built instantly. You can follow your associations and, having descended from the mountain, immediately go to the baths.

Skiing and spa pleasures do not have to be combined in one day - the pass to the baths will be valid until the end of the winter season. The ski-bath-pass costs only 39 euros, which is about 10 euros cheaper than buying individual ski passes.

The Rupertus Therme complex, which comes with the slopes and lifts, deserves attention in itself. There is a sauna, massage rooms, thermal pools and an outdoor jacuzzi with magnificent views of the snow-capped Alps.

Ticket price: in terms - 16 euros for four hours and 19 euros for the whole day;

with a visit to the sauna, respectively, 21 and 24 euros.

4. Contemplation of landscapes. Three Valleys, France

Courchevel TourismeFor the romantically inclined, a wonderful and, most importantly, an easy way to have fun in a ski resort is to admire the views of the snow-capped alpine peaks. And it's best to do it while sitting in a lift chair. Many of them are now equipped with heated seats and a bubble canopy to keep out the wind, so you don't have to worry about the cold on your way to the top. But if someone, nevertheless, gets cold, you can warm up in one of the restaurants located near the cable car stations. A cup of hot soup or mulled wine by the window with the same magnificent view will bring anyone back to life.

From the restaurant, by the way, it is worth grabbing a bottle of champagne and drinking it on the way back, especially since the return will require more courage, because when moving down you can see pine trees in white hats, the heads and backs of skiers, tiny lights and the roofs of a chalet in the valley - one In other words, breathtaking scenery. If someone does not want to walk on the mountain, you can not leave the lift at all and return down, sitting in the same chair - it moves in a circle, almost like a carousel.

Ticket price: it is impossible to buy a ticket only for the lift, so you will have to purchase a full ski-pass,

its cost, depending on the valley, is 40–45 euros.

5. Diving. La Molina, Catalonia

Don't be surprised, this is not a mistake. In La Molina, one of the leading Catalan ski resorts, you can now really experience the thrill of diving in a diving suit under the ice of a mountain lake.

La Molina is the only Spanish resort that offers such entertainment. There are four lakes in total, located at an altitude of 1700 to 2300 meters. Dives are arranged when the reservoirs are covered with a thick crust of ice - individually or in small groups. The depth of diving depends on the level of preparedness of the diver. The session lasts a maximum of 50 minutes.

What can you see while under the cold water? Yes, practically nothing - outlandish representatives of the lake fauna are unlikely to be found here, but this does not mean that it will be uninteresting. The feeling of such an immersion is very strong. Just imagine that you find yourself in an ice bag filled with water, a white “ceiling” above your head, and not a soul around, only silent cold blueness, which seems to have no end. An adrenaline rush is guaranteed!

Participation price: 67 euros - the price includes the rental of the necessary equipment and the issuance of a DSD certificate (Discover Scuba Diving),

which is issued to participants after the first dive in their life.

6. Zorbing. Yekaterinburg, Russia

“The skis are standing by the stove, the sunset is fading behind the mountain ...” So let the skis remain by the stove, the modern Dombai waltz is the whirling of heaven and earth, observed from a huge transparent ball, a zorb. The zorb is a relatively recent invention. It was created specifically for descent from the mountains. It consists of two spheres, external and internal, fastened with special cables. A person (in this case his name is a zorbonaut) sits in a small ball, as if suspended in a large one, and fastens himself with seat belts. And then this giant inflatable ball is simply pushed down the mountain, and, of course, it rolls down, rapidly gaining momentum and joyfully bouncing on potholes (the air gap between the spheres absorbs shocks during the descent).

They came up with an attraction in New Zealand. It was there that in the 90s of the twentieth century they launched the mass production of huge balls. And the very first model appeared at all in the mid-70s. Initially, the zorb was only a summer entertainment - it was used to descend on the grass or the ground. However, the new fun quickly gained popularity, and now there are spheres for walking on water and snowboards, which do not care about snow and frost. You can ride in such a ball in the village of Kashino, which is a 40-minute drive from Yekaterinburg, on the territory of an amusement park.

Price: 300 rubles for one descent.

7. Sledding. Grindelwald, Switzerland

swiss-image.chSwiss ski resorts are famous all over the world. Many people come here to ski. But about the favorite winter entertainment of the inhabitants of the country, foreigners know almost nothing. It's about sledding. If in Russia this is just child's play, then in Switzerland it is at least a significant event. After all, going down in this mountainous snowy country can be insanely long.

To go sledding, in almost any Swiss ski resort, you just need to ask the reception where such a slide is located. As a rule, they are located at a distance from the ski areas. There are many suitable slopes in the Jungfrau region, and each one is several kilometers long. On Mount First, it will take more than three hours to sled from the third gondola lift station to the first. True, from the cable car to the start you still have to walk about an hour. But the result justifies all expectations. The Swiss claim that this is the longest toboggan run in the world. It is very difficult to control the sled at high speed, during the descent, the famous poem about the native village, the house and sledding with the same finish in the snowdrift is repeatedly recalled.

Ticket price: per day for an adult 40 francs.

Sleigh rental - 15 francs per day (deposit 100 francs).

Hello reader! I often destroy the stereotypes that the rest is very expensive. Believe me, there are many options for the budget traveler. Today we will look at how inexpensive ski resorts in Europe. Just chirkan about a couple more expensive. The weather in the spring is so changeable, it is likely that you will still have the opportunity to go skiing this year.

Mountains, chilling air, a sea of adrenaline. What could be better than spending the last days of winter outdoors! I have compiled my subjective rating of the best and most affordable European ski resorts where you can ski cheaply, sip mulled wine and just look at the beautiful mountains.

Before you start looking at inexpensive ski resorts in Europe, I advise you to look into Decathlon store. They have an updated assortment of equipment there now, there are good models of equipment at nice prices. I recently took a backpack there, I advise everyone.

Inexpensive ski resorts in Europe - budget and not very

Bansko in Bulgaria

Bansko is not such a popular and well-known resort; it has long managed to win over all lovers of skiing from all over the world. Do you know where it is on the map or have you been there? Be sure to write in the comments.

In Bansko you can find one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of the Pyrenees. In addition, this region is not considered only one ski resort. It is also a beautiful old city with many attractions.

You can come here to rest from mid-December to mid-April. During this period, stable snow cover, the thickness of which sometimes exceeds two meters. The town is distinguished by good service and diverse infrastructure. Here you will find more than six tracks, the length of which exceeds 14 kilometers. They were located at an altitude of 2.5 km above sea level.

It is easy to book a cozy cheap hotel or expensive apartments in Bansko. You can also purchase a lift pass, for 7 days you will have to pay 150 euros for an adult and 85 euros for a child under 12 years old. Some prefer to purchase the entire ski package for the same period (it includes: rental, lift pass and training with an instructor), its cost does not exceed 250 euros for an adult and 148 euros for a child. I think if you buy tickets in advance, you can save a lot.

Where to look for accommodation in Bansko? Of course on Booking.com

You will find Bansko 160 km from the capital of Bulgaria. From the capital's airport, you can take a taxi to the bus station, and from there, for little money, take a bus to the ski resort. Travel time is up to three hours.

Poiana Brasov in Romania

According to vacationers, the resort is surrounded by a coniferous forest, not far from the ancient city of Brasov. Here you will find 12 slopes with a total length of 14 km, dozens of ski jumps and modern chair lifts. You will like the town with excellent ecology, nature, clean mountain air and wonderful landscapes. There is a place to ride for both professionals and beginners.

When I was in Brasov, I made a short video about the castle of Count Dracula, which is located nearby. In general, everything is in order in Romania with cool castles - there are a lot of them, and if you are by car, then there is always something to see besides skiing. And Brasov itself is not a city, but a fairy tale. I still reproach myself for not writing an article for a blog about this city.

For outdoor activities there are several artificial skating rinks, riding centers, sports grounds, swimming pools and saunas. In addition, the infrastructure of the resort is complemented by restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy national Romanian cuisine and watch vibrant shows of musicians and dancers.

The resort offers vacationers to settle in budget hotels, but remember that the higher the season, the more expensive. Rest with a classic set of standard services will cost you three hundred euros. For a ski lift pass (week) you will have to pay 60 euros for an adult and 39 euros for a child.

Reviews: France or Romania?

Many of my friends used to vacation in France, but I can say right away that the resorts of this country are much more expensive than the Romanian ones. Despite the fact that the latter are absolutely not inferior in the quality of slopes and lifts. Of course, I will not judge those places where I have not been, but still I recommend that you visit Poiana Brasov in order to make your own impression of this ski resort.

Budget options for Jasna, Slovakia

This ski resort is one of the most advanced resorts in Eastern Europe. There are children's trails, trails to ride a snowmobile and a board. It is better to come to Jasna between the 12th and the end of the 03rd month. On the territory of Jasna, there are 13 lifts, the total capacity is more than 11 thousand people per hour, while the ski slopes surprise with their variety and beautiful horizons.
