Where is Macau Beach? Beach holiday in Macau

The gentle “Dominican” sun... The exciting sound of the surf... A fabulous, milky sky... Did you think this was paradise? Yes! You're right! This is heaven on Earth - Macau Beach in the Dominican Republic.

The tropical climate of the Dominican Republic attracts tourists all year round. From April to October is the rainy season, but warm showers occur here mainly at night and last very short. During the day, the gentle sun takes care of creating an amazingly beautiful tan for guests of the Dominican Republic relaxing on the beach.

From November to March it is hot on the coast and there is practically no rain. A light breeze from the Atlantic provides the most comfortable conditions for a relaxing holiday.

What to expect from a beach holiday in the Dominican Republic?

Pearly white sand, blue waves - not life, but a fairy tale! – this is a place where all natural beauties are intertwined. Feel the coolness of the palm grove, the mysterious attraction of the sea reefs. This is one of those wonderful corners of the planet where you don’t even think about any danger, you completely forget all the worldly bustle of cities, the constant rush, and headaches. This is perhaps the most peaceful place in the Dominican Republic.

A beautiful beach: the maximum depth of the coastal zone here reaches 1.5 meters - this means that your children can splash in the cool sea water as much as they want, and you won’t worry about them at all!

Here you can feel the true pleasure of relaxation, breathe in the fresh tropical air, admire the sea and palm trees... Seascapes are reminiscent of many Hollywood films. These intricate figures of black, rocky reefs, blue sea water, white sand like pearls. Probably, such an atmosphere can only be felt in the Dominican Republic.

Only in this wonderful country, with a very rich history and culture. Returning home, you can boast of a beautiful “chocolate” tan, because the Dominican sun is the most gentle. This place is suitable for absolutely everyone: a family with children, a young couple in love, and a group of cheerful friends. If you choose this place to relax, you are guaranteed an unforgettable experience and a sea of positive emotions.

Macau Beach is also very popular among surfers. In Punta Cana there is a place known to all fans of this romantic sport, which is called - Surf Camp. Its owners are experienced surfers Gustavo and Rafael, who began to tame the waves as teenagers. They offer the best conditions for surfing for both experienced athletes and beginners, who can get not only wave riding lessons, but also unforgettable impressions from their first independent attempts to conquer the turquoise surface of the ocean.

Experienced surfers prefer to come here in November-December, when the wind blows from the north, creating huge waves. For surf lovers, nothing beats this amazing adrenaline-pumping adventure.

Yes, this place can definitely be called ideal! People come here for new, unforgettable sensations, and the hot Dominican Republic warmly welcomes all tourists and gives everyone what they want. After your vacation, you will definitely want to come back here again, plunge into this unforgettable atmosphere, into the ocean of emotions and feelings!

Many tourists call Macau Beach one of the Dominican pearls; this place is a piece of paradise that does not leave any of its visitors indifferent!

Macau, of course, is not a beach tourist destination, but there are beaches here, which, in general, is logical, because all around is the South China Sea. Local beaches, in fact, are intended for the local population, who really like to relax here. Despite the presence at the Galaxy Macau Hotel excellent water complex, we still didn’t mind swimming in the real sea.

When preparing a trip to Macau, it turned out that there are several beaches here, but the most popular ones are located in the southern part of the island of Coloane ( I already mentioned that it is connected with the neighboring island of Taipa into one large island of Cotai) two beaches Cheoc Van And Hac Sa. There is a lot of public transport here, and the closest stop to our hotel is a few minutes' walk away, if you exit through the Crystal Lobby and cross the highway at the pedestrian crossing, let me remind you that traffic here is on the left ( and the next stop is right opposite The Venetian, you just need to cross the highway via an overpass).

At the stops there are signs indicating routes and fares, so you can figure it out without any problems. We could get there by buses 25, 26A, these routes go to the final one - Hak Sa beach, and along the way they make a stop at Cheok Wan beach, so if you wish, you can easily visit them in turn. The traffic schedule, route maps and fares can be found here http://www.dsat.gov.mo/bus/en/bus_service.aspx ( By the way, the fare depends on where the passenger boards, and not on the destination).

Buses run frequently, however, we made a “tactical miscalculation” by deciding to go to the beach on Saturday at lunchtime... Quite a lot of necessary buses passed us, but they didn’t stop... It’s just that, unlike our public transport drivers, here the driver can easily pass the stop (if no one needs to get off) when the bus is full ( although the concept of “bus fullness” in Macau and in Russia is very different, and our drivers would brake at stops without hesitation, ramming everyone into the cabin...)

After standing for half an hour and waving at passing buses, we decided to try again the next day. And so, on Sunday morning we finally boarded the right bus. Locals pay for travel with a special card, but tourists hardly need to bother buying one, since they hardly use public transport; free shuttle buses are enough ( one important point: Hong Kong Octopus is not valid in Macau , don't even try). Well, if you decide to take a ride out of town, then have some change ready for the fare, as the driver won’t give you change! On the bus next to the driver there is a stand with a metal box, you throw coins into the slot on the lid, and on the driver’s side the box has a glass wall, the coins lie flat next to each other, the driver sees at a glance how much you threw, then presses the lever and the coins fall into the receiver below.

By the way, for some reason in Macau they do not accept a coin like this in denomination of 10 Hong Kong dollars. I could not find out the reason; all other coins and banknotes of Hong Kong are accepted here with a bang. And in Hong Kong itself, this coin does not create any problems.

The bus to the beach goes along a rather picturesque route, I don’t remember exactly the travel time, it seemed no more than half an hour. At the final stop there are shops with various bathing accessories. (swimming trunks, swimsuits, glasses, inflatable rings, etc.), the beach is equipped with showers, toilets, changing rooms, there is a green park and a camping area along the beach, and at the end of the park there is a large picnic area.

Showers and changing rooms

Pleasant shady alley along the beach

Behind the fence is a camping area. You pay the rent and set up a tent. A very common practice in countries and cities with high population densities.

Large picnic area with stationary barbecues. A very popular place among Macau residents, for example, a large group of schoolchildren in three photographs above began to relax here in full force.

The Hak Sa beach itself is described in many guidebooks as an excellent place for swimming and I quote: “ with a warm crystal clear sea and amazing black volcanic sand“... The sea may be warm, but the sand is not black at all, although once it probably was, but over time it mixed with the ordinary sand brought here and lost its original color. The transparency of the water certainly cannot be called “crystal” ( well, or is it some kind of special cloudy crystal). I would like to say separately about the “cleanliness of the sea”, because we never expected to see so much garbage both on the beach and in the water! During our Hong Kong-Macao trip, only one beach could amaze with its unsanitary conditions more than Hak Sa - on the island of Cheung Chau in Hong Kong...

The result of the vacation is that all this garbage ends up on the beach, and garbage from vacationers directly on the sand is added to it.

But if they monitored the cleanliness here, it would be a really good beach...

It is quite possible that the littering of the beach is the result of a Saturday weekend, when locals came here in countless numbers, and maybe after the weekend they thoroughly clean up here, and, again, it may be that on weekdays the beach is quite clean... But this theory is repeated We didn’t want to check it out during the trip. Also, after what I saw, I didn’t want to go to another local beach - Cheok Wan, since it is located very close, it was logical to predict in advance its equally littered state. And we were not mistaken... Walking along the beautiful coastal path on our next visit, we immediately noticed that the sea in the area of Cheok Wan beach was much dirtier, and this is clearly visible even on the holographic maps. So one thing can be said about a beach holiday in Macau - for us it is not here. By the way, we didn’t see a single aborigine swimming; they walk along the sand or along the embankment, go sailing, but you certainly won’t find anyone joyfully splashing in the sea waves.

Despite the fact that swimming in " warm crystal clear sea on a black sand beach“We didn’t succeed, we didn’t experience any particular upset, and were once again glad to have our own “micro-sea” in our Galaxy hotel.

For the rest of the day we decided to walk around the old town. Having safely reached the center by shuttle bus, we realized that this was a rash decision. Macau on a Sunday is completely different from Macau on a weekday. Unrealistically gigantic crowds of tourists, there’s literally nowhere for an apple to fall! But, since we arrived, we went for a walk. With great difficulty we filtered through Senate Square to the ruins of the cathedral, rested a little and headed into the city alleys. This was the right decision! No tourists, silence, local flavor in all its glory, just great!

Senate Square is simply teeming with tourists...

The alley from the square to the ruins of the cathedral is so densely packed that the speed of movement in it is slower than the speed of a snail. A small gap at the beginning of the alley is just a “temptation”, then there is just a wall of people!

Near the ruins of the cathedral, it was with great difficulty that we found a place on the curb to sit down and rest.

And in the alleys there is no one, peace and quiet!

You can even come across benches in a secluded shady place, which is very rare for the city.

By the way, in the summer it is very hot in Macau, be sure to take water with you and keep in mind that for some reason there are incredibly few benches in the city, so it will be difficult to sit comfortably and relax. Even those benches that were there on our first visit, for example near the dancing fountains of the Wynn casino, were removed for some reason...

Towards evening, after the interesting alleys of Macau, we decided to walk along Fisherman's Wharf embankment. On the way, we walked past the Wynn casino, where we once again enjoyed watching the short show “The Dragon of Fortune” and, without waiting for the next performance “Prosperity tree ", moved on.

Wynn Casino

Great short introduction to The Dragon of Fortune

Again, past Grand Lisboa... nothing, and we’ll definitely come here someday

What a strange silhouette of the pedestrian on the sign

I have already talked about Fisherman's Wharf in some detail, so here are just a couple of photos

Unfortunately, there was some kind of construction going on on a significant part of the embankment, so we didn’t get the expected impressions, but we still had a nice stroll.

It’s good that we’ve already visited the center of Macau. And most importantly, the photographs show what Macau can be like without the crowds of people!

This time we again did not visit many interesting places in Macau: the Guia lighthouse, the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion, the “Prosperity tree” show at the Wynn casino, there is also an aquarium with a thousand jellyfish, we did not walk through many very famous casinos with beautiful interiors and gorgeous shows, we didn’t walk through the old quarters of Taipa... So we’ll be back again!

The enchanting landscapes of the Caribbean Sea with picturesque cliffs are offered by the famous Macaco beach Dominican Republic. It is located among a palm trail of tropical trees. This place is recognized as one of the convenient health-improving corners of the earth where respectable people relax.

You can get to the clean sandy shores by transfer and car rental. In the first case, it is better to contact a special company that will take care of all the arrangements for organizing the route.

First of all, Macau Beach is a real relaxation area with gastronomic establishments where they cook delicious food. The coastline is located next to the resort of Punta Cana, but is designed in such a way that vacationers are guaranteed privacy from the large flow of tourists.

The advantages of relaxing in such a place include:

  • swimming in clear water and sunbathing under a canopy;
  • taking a selfie against a backdrop of luxurious vegetation;
  • riding on the crests of waves while surfing;
  • exciting fishing, chatting with friends and family.

Fans of practicality will appreciate a decent level of service and a beautiful appearance of sea horizons. On the beach there are hammocks and swings, with the help of which you can feel weightlessness and complete freedom from any worries.

It is easy for tourists to rent a comfortable SUV, which will allow them to make a short trip from Macau Dominica to local attractions.

An amazing resort on the planet will reveal the secrets of Mount Redonda. From here you can see the Eastern Cordillera and Limon Lagoon, Miches Valley and Samana Bay.

Extravaganza of positive emotions

If you decide to spend your holiday on the shores of Macau Dominican Republic, then try to explore the underwater world by diving in specially designated areas. Such experiments will long be remembered for the brightness and acuity of sensations. After such events, guests of the resort are simply provided with a charge of positive energy and vivacity.

For romantically minded people, the beach will give you an unforgettable feeling of warmth and mutual understanding. Lovers will be able to enjoy a special atmosphere. To the sound of the sea surf, you can celebrate the blossoms and sunsets together. After some time, pleasant moments of relaxation will be remembered with special tenderness.

The right combination of a beach holiday with excursion programs will be the key to a good vacation for many.

Beach Macau Dominican Republic.

Macau Beach is very different from all the others, it is not protected by a coral reef, but looks out onto the open ocean. The beach will appeal to lovers of high waves and is ideal for surfing; the local population likes to relax here on weekends.

Macau Beach is almost the only wild beach in Punta Cana; there are no hotels and, in general, few buildings. The sand on the beach is yellow and soft, there are many palm trees, and Macau is surrounded by dense tropical forest. The beach is secretly divided into two zones: the surfer zone and the swimming zone. The second part of the beach is protected by a high rock, which provides good protection from waves and undercurrents.

I know a lot of locals and foreigners permanently living in the Dominican Republic who call Macau their favorite beach. In the entire Macau region, this is the least touristy beach, despite the fact that there are quite a lot of tourists visiting the beach as part of excursions. The most crowded day is Sunday; local families come here for a picnic on their day off. There are several cafes on Macau beach, where you can eat fresh seafood, drink natural juices or coconut milk. Many come with barbecues, refrigerators and huge speakers and decide the issue of food and entertainment on their own.

Despite the fact that Macau beach is wild, it is always full of people. Photographers come here early in the morning; a huge number of photo sessions and wedding ceremonies are held here. There are several surf stations on the beach; as part of many excursions, tourists are brought here for relaxation and photography. You can order or on our website.

Macau Beach – how to get there?

The beach is located 20 km from Bavaro and most hotels in Punta Cana. Public transport is not yet developed in Punta Cana. You can get to Macau by rented car, taxi or as part of an excursion trip. Not so long ago, a completely new road was made to Macau Beach, signs and road signs were put up, getting here with a rented car will not be difficult.

We will always help you rent a car reliably and inexpensively or organize a one-way or two-way transfer. No matter how you plan to visit Macau, the beach should definitely be on your list of places to visit during your trip.

Macau Beach - Surfing in the Dominican Republic.

Macau Beach is located in such a way that there is practically no need to catch a wave here; they visit the beach almost every day; both professionals and beginners will find waves to their taste. There are several surfing schools on the beach, one of the oldest and most popular is the Russian school, with which we cooperate. You can choose either a group or individual lesson; as a rule, one day of training takes about 4 hours; already in the first lesson, most people get up on the board.

The most dangerous thing about surfing is becoming addicted; as a rule, those who get on the board once want to repeat it again and again and again. Having tried it once, I still ride now.
