At the beginning of 2016, a metro line connected the capital of Catalonia with the main airport. Its name is L9, on the map the line is usually indicated in orange. It is connected to the green line L3 (Zona Universitària). It is important to know that this metro line has a number of features:
- it is not related to other lines;
- to travel on it you will need to purchase a separate ticket (airport ticket).
The fare is 4.50 euros.
However, the most convenient and comfortable way to get to Barcelona International Airport can be considered a taxi. The fare is quite high, but the speed and comfort make up for it. The average fare will be 30 euros. There are quite a few taxi services in the city. Most of them charge extra for luggage, you need to take this into account.

There are three such halls in the first terminal, there is also a business center. Terminal 2 has one VIP lounge. In both terminals, such passengers can go through the procedure of quick check-in and boarding.
Cafes and restaurants are available to visitors. Everyone will be able to find food to their liking, the assortment is diverse: from pizza and takeaway burgers to complex fish dishes. Most of the restaurants are presented in Terminal 1 on the third and first floors.

The El Prat airport complex is quite compact in size, although it accepts a huge number of passengers.
It consists of only two modern terminals: T2 and T1.
The complex was built in 1916, and in 1992 it was modernized for the Olympic Games, adding buildings A and C to T2.
The terminals are located at a distance of only 4 kilometers from each other and are connected by a free shuttle bus route, lasting 7 minutes.

How to get there
Transport links between the airport terminal and the city are perfectly established, despite the very small distance. Any traveler can choose a convenient way to get to the airport.

Metro
Until 2016, it was not possible to travel from the city to the airport. Now this problem has been solved and the travel time on the L9 metro line will take only a quarter of an hour. Payment in the amount of 4.6 EUR is made by T-10 card or a regular transport ticket.
Attention! To get to the airport from Plaza Catalunya and Plaza de España, you will have to make transfers.
By taxi
Near T1 and T2 there is a parking lot with dozens of taxis. The landing is handled by an airport employee. The cost of the trip is on average 25-30 EUR (calculated by the meter), taking into account the number of seats and luggage. Travel time is half an hour.
You can also order a taxi online if you wish. 
By train
During the day, Renfe trains run from the railway station in the city every half an hour.
A ticket worth 4.50 EUR is purchased at the box office or in specialized orange machines. You must specify the "Aeroport" station and the device will print the ticket. Travel time is about half an hour with three stops.
Attention! Exit directly to the platform from T1 will not work. The passenger will have to use the services of a free bus.
By bus
The most common city bus number 46 runs from the airport in the direction of the city. A ticket for 2.20 EUR is paid with a T10 card.
Additionally, a special Aerobus shuttle departs every 12 minutes. The fare in it costs 5.90 EUR. The final station of the route is Plaça Catalunya.
Both buses operate exclusively during the day from 6:10 to 1:05.
If you wish, you can get to the airport terminal by public transport even at night. For these purposes, the bus route No. 17 (for T1) and No. 16 (for T2) is intended.
The movement starts at 21:55, every 15-20 minutes and continues until 4:45 in the morning. Ticket price 2.20 EUR.
From other cities in Spain, you can also get to El Prat using the services of intercity buses. 
On the transfer
To quickly and comfortably get to the city center, you can order a transfer in advance.
A suitable vehicle must be booked in advance. The driver will meet the passenger at the airport with a name plate. The rental price is fixed, no circumstances on the way will change it.
By rental car
You can also go to the city from the airport by renting a car in one of
popular companies: Avis, Hertz, etc. Car parks are located directly opposite the terminals.
If the car is booked in advance, customers are provided with significant discounts. Therefore, it is recommended to order a car on the Internet.
Airport parking spaces
You can leave your personal car at the airport. Here for the convenience of passengers there are three parking lots:
- Open parking for 11900 cars - places.
- Terminal T1 has a separate covered car park of 9 floors with 12,000 parking spaces.
- Two kilometers from the terminals there is a parking lot where you can leave your car for a long time. You can get there by free shuttle bus. The prices here are quite low.
A parking space can be booked in advance online.
Parking services are paid using payment machines, which can be found in the T2 terminal in the amount of 21. The machines accept bank cards for payment.

In 1963, the airport received its millionth passenger, and in 1977 the number of travelers crossed the 5 million mark. The cargo terminal was built in 1976. The airport received its official name on 06/06/2011.
The air port has three runways made of asphalt and concrete:
- The first - concrete coating - 3352 meters;
- The second - concrete coating - 2660 meters;
- The third one is asphalt covering - 2540 meters.
Well-known creative personalities took part in the decoration of the air hub building. So, the center of terminal B is decorated with a spectacular monument in the form of a horse by architect Botero, and the facade of terminal T2B is covered with an unusual mosaic created by Joan Miró.
